How your shop got started
What a day in your life is like
What you do when you're not on Etsy, working on your shop, etc.

Re: Welcome!

hello!

first team I'm joining, excited to meet some new people with similar interests.

my shop got started because I LOVE hunting for wonderfully different/one of a kind items but my house is super small. I'm a P/T nanny when I'm not adventuring or updating my shop.

Re: Welcome!

Welcome bestbug! Another vintage seller joked with me saying that selling vintage is therapy...so true. Nothing like a good find, huh? Nice to meet you!

Re: Welcome!

So ,my profile says a lot about me but some things you may not decipher....
I am adicted to learning about home improvement, home restoration etc.
I can do a flip on the tramploine. :)
My son Zane loves to go garage saling and finding antiques with me adn he actually knows what an antique is.

My shop got started when I purchased two purses locally through etsy - she had a listing on craigslist and I followed a link - NEVER had heard of etsy but instantly fell in love with it. After checking out fees I decided I finally could buy all those super cheap great items at the garage and antique sales and make money from them! It was very thrilling.

When I am not working on etsy I am taking care of the family and house or doing some sort of homeimprovement project - I do a lot of research in reading magazines and books about architecture adn particular home eras - currently studying arts and crafts movement. :) Love the this old house magazine and was raised on the show.

So thats me. :) Spending all my time socially and not listing a darn thing again... my problem de'jour right now.
:)

Re: Welcome!

Hurst,
Very cool to meet you and get to know you. I love old architecture myself. Vintage sellers must be attracted to old things....:)

My son is big on finding treasures with me too. I love taking my kids with me because it becomes a merge of hobby and bonding time.

Re: Welcome!

This is my first team I've joined, but as an addicted vintage collector and seller, I'm excited to be here. :)
(I heard about this team from the 'where you store your vintage inventory' thread in the forums)

My shop got started when I brought home a number of small vintage things from cleaning out my grandparent's house...I was familiar with etsy through friends and just looking around for a place to sell this stuff. I wasn't intending to turn it into my home business.

But by my first sale, I was addicted, and I'm spending more time on my shop to turn it into my home business. The extra time is paying off, credit to etsy, and my sales are picking up as the holidays approach (or have they overtaken us already? :).

When I'm not on etsy?...I'm sewing, writing, having fun with my family, and shopping yard sales and my local thrift stores for more little treasures! ;)

Glad to be here!
Chelly

Re: Welcome!

Hi
I just joined the group. I love the name! -made me laugh. I have been hoarding for most of my life as my grandmother used to have an antiques shop. My mother and both of my aunts are collectors so it was impossible for me to not be. I have just recently started selling on etsy but it is hard to find time since I have a 6.5 month old son. I used to sell on that other E shop but find it to be too big business these days. I have also owned my own resale business off and on throughout the years. I have so much more to put up for sale and so little time! I hope that my sales will pick up on etsy as it has been a little slow . . . But it is great to be apart of a crafting community!

Glad to be a part of HA

Re: Welcome!

Ari, it runs in my family too. My grandma had a successful victorian shop for nearly 20 years. So I know what you mean. It's a wonderful family tradition as long as I can keep the clutter under control! :D Wonderful to meet you. Thanks for joining!

Re: Welcome!

Ari, It seems like the hardest part is listing BUT it is the only thing that can get things out and also REALLY helps get things moving off the shelves, read into renewing also - sometimes it is good, sometimes it feels like a money zapper. I know what you mean about "E" it is very commecialized - you never know if it is a person selling their colelction or a huge store trying to compete. That is why I chose Etsy when I started selling online too. :)

Re: Welcome!

Hi,
I just joined your group. Hoarding? No! Inventory, yes! I have been this business for a long time. Starting selling at Swap meets about 30 years ago in California. I love old things, appreciate their history, think about who once owned them. I keep for a while and then sell, to get more. Junque not Junk is what I always say. I am married 2 children, 3 grandchildren. 1 dog, 2 cats. Living in the middle of Missour. I am looking forward to being on your Team. Carose

Re: Welcome!

I don't know if I have five things in me, but probably the biggest one is that I used to be internet-famous -- in a field completely unrelated to vintage jewelry -- and now I'm trying to lay low under a pseudonym.

I come from a family of antiquers, and it was only a matter of time before I caught the bug. Being familiar with Etsy for some time, it was natural for me to move from an antique booth to an online store. I'm brand new at this particular shop since I moved to a pseudonym but I have a long history with selling online.

I love period movies, ESPECIALLY THE COSTUMES. I love vintage fashion and have always tried to keep a little glam in my daily wear. This has been dampered by getting a job in a very conservative field, but now that I've got my shop I'm going to let the freak flag fly.

So glad to be here!

Re: Welcome!

Carose,
I think most of us vintage sellers have an appreciation for the old~I love that! My bro was born in Missouri when my parents lived there for a few years. St. Louis I believe? Thanks for joining! Great to have you!

2) Mother of 4, married 10 years to my hubby
3) English major, book lover
4) Decor faves that I rarely sell bc I can't part with: vintage plaid & milk glass
5) 7 half brothers & sisters but the only one from my mom & pops

Re: Welcome!

Hello,

Let's see I got my store going because I bought my wife cast iron (CI) cookware for our 6th anniversary, the CI anniversary. I got tired of moving the CI around, watching it rust and so on. I started researching how to season CI. During research discovered older CI and developed my own seasoning methods as the others don't work properly.

I sold on ebay before coming to Etsy, like Etsy better.

I have 2 girls.

We are down to 3 pets, 2 cats and a rabbit.

My wife writes children's books - 20 published to date.

I've live in ME and have lived in NH, MD, MA, AZ, NY, RI, NJ, VA, FL, Puerto Rico and Ethiopia but not in that order.

I think that's 5.

Thanks,
Winston

Re: Welcome!

Hello,
I like to go treasure hunting and especially like to collect cute vintage home decor. When i find and item and post it on my shop, I usually think twice about keeping it. I still have a handful of items that I havent posted on Etsy but will soon be added to my shop. My family calls me a hoarder. LOL
But I keep all the items well organized in shelves and away from my one and a half year old son.

I love making treasuries and discovering new shops.

That's not all, but im tired of writting. LOL

Thanks :)
