When to gear up for holidays

Okay so this is extremely early (I think), but this is my first year selling and this upcoming holiday season will be my first for the shop. I was wondering: when everyone begins posting their items specifically geared toward holiday shoppers?

My stationery sets need to be sent to the printer and I need to wait for them to come back, so I'll need to factor in that time before posting. But more to-the-point, I'm planning to also put out a line of hand painted ornaments and I'm not sure when those should get listed. August? September?

I don't want to be too early and jump the gun, but I also don't want to be late and miss the shopping rush. What do you think? :)

The earlier the better. I try to start posting a two months or sooner. I had to learn the hard way. People love shopping early. So for Christmas, lets say, I would start posting in the end of September, and beginning of October. The good thing is that i have been on Etsy for a year now, so I have all the holiday themed items in my shop from last year. So I dont have to drive myself nuts creating and posting. I can take my time. lol.

Thanks so much for your input!! I was thinking September too, but I wasn't sure if I would be the crazy person posting it too early and then ending up regretting it. I guess the earlier the better when it comes to the Christmas rush :)
