What are "circles?"

I don't really understand the concept of being added to someone's circle. What does it mean?

it means kind of the same thing as favoriting them. However whatever they do, favorite an item from other shops or add people to their circle, it shows up in your activity. You gain exposure by joining circles and by adding people to yours :-)
