Upset by etsy teams

Hi everyone,

I'm new here at etsy and I just joined some etsy teams. When I read a bit about the etsy teams before I joined, I thought it would be a place where people help and would give good advice, what I find was that almost all subjects are ignored, except the one with new listings and shop promotion.
I introduced myself at a few teams and got no response.. Also other people who are new here got no welcome or advice for questions they asked...

I'm a bit upset and frustrated about this, does anyone know a nice team where it is about eachother and not only yourself?

I'm in two or three teams but by far the most supportive is craft Britannia. They have a world wide team so check them out.

I found the same problem. I want to be in a team where people talk to each other just because they all want to talk, but all I can find are teams with threads to promote items, and maybe one where members are supposed to introduce themselves. It's really very frustrating.

Happy to find out that I'm not the only one with this problem!
Now we only have to find a solution ;)

Maybe we have to start are own team...Or maybewe can find another way for etsylovers just to talk..

What sucks are the teams that are set up for folks to critique each others shops and share ideas, and yet when someone posts something it goes days without any replies. And when there is a reply it's by someone with the same question!

I find that teams are a good place to premiere your new items. They receive a lot of views and can lead to treasuries & things.
A lot of people don't have a lot of time to talk & visit on teams. Running a shop can take a ton of work & time. I understand the frustration, but everyone isn't in a position to talk that much. The people that take the time to give advice are trying to help and I find that I stop & answer questions whenever I have the chance, but not as often as I would like myself.
If you have any specific questions, I would be happy to try to halp.

I do agree with the benifits of being able to show your items to others will help your sales. I just wish there was a place where people could also go to, to chat and ask question. I myself always check the shop off people who reply to me, in that way I feel a more personal connection with the shopowner.
If everyone us would just take 5 min every other day to answer one or two question, or to just welcome someone, or to make a nice comment on there shop it wouldn't take that much time and still it would be a lot nicer enviroment in teams.

I joined- "We've Got Your Back"- received lots of input- WELCOMES- & 'Faves'- starting your own team is a lot of work for the beginner here on 'Etsy'- check them out! If you do decide to start up a group that is interested in chatting & sharing on a more regular basis- count me in!!!!!! :-)

Thank you very much for your advice! Maybe I should first get more familiar with etsy before I decide to start my own team. I'll take a look at the team you suggested.

@Els- still working on improvements & totally appreciate the input! Just gotta remind myself daily to relax & enjoy the journey!!! Since I've started 'BoogityBoogityBoo' I've met sooo many creative individuals- joined a local organization- "The Inner artist Society"- & expand my horizons daily- crafting is good!!! Sales would be nice but ETSY is not the only venue- plan on hitting a lot of craft fairs once the weather breaks! :-)

Hi everyone, I'm new too, joined Etsy in Oct.'12, have only had 3 sales, then I started joining Teams, well that was just 2 wks. ago. The first team, I asked what was wrong with my shop, and I got ALOT of FB , all negative about my pics, except for this one Lady from JaxtonandJill, she was a Godsend to me, and helped me redo all the pics in my shop, showed me a new program, so hopefully it will help. All I can tell you is never give up hope, believe in yourself, have faith and go from there! Good luck to you all. If I can help any of you, please convo me, I may not be selling alot yet, I sell alot to the outside public, but I've learned to much about Etsy, so If I don't know the answer I know right where to go to get you the answer! Your pendants are just beautiful! The teams... some are for promotion, other are for help, but you need to search...

In my team about recycling (recyclingparty) I got a lot of help. But you to recycle, and i think it's not your case.

Also, in that team: https://www.etsy.com/teams/11352/relevancy-and-seo-for-all-etsy-shops, I got a lot of tips about relevancy and the leader answer at a lot of questions. I recommended it.

And sometime, to got help, you can give a little to other. For exemple, I gave help to someone for translation in french and she help me with my spanish.

Just an update, for anyone living in Florida, there is a Team called FEST, and so far they seem really nice and very helpful, they play a few games where we promote each other's shops and items, so that always helps! Then I've seen Teams that kinda over do it, and ask a little to much from you, contantly wanting you to do this and do that, That's not the Team I want. I want one where you can help when you need it, and also have some fun, and help each other promote our shops, Good luck all, I hope everyone finds what they're looking for!

@Nathan, You have a good Idea, and let me know if you do start one, I already had one person really put my pics downs really bad in my shop, but it ended up in me meeting this wonderful lady who just about redid all my pics, taught me how to redo the pics, then the other day I had another lady out of nowhere tell me I had alot of typos in my listings, well I did, so I went over everything and changed them. Critique is good, but compliments are so much better and the way it's said to you makes a big difference too, Well Let me know!!! Justine

There's definitely something to be said in constructive criticism! I just thought I'd say hello to everyone since I wound up reading most of this post which doesn't happen very often since a lot of them are promos which are fantastic but I agree that it would be nice to connect with other sellers as Justine is pointing out.
