I was just accepted.... and I declined. The numbers just looked like I'd be losing a lot of money..between the extra fees and shipping cost for pottery.
I am second guessing myself now and hoping I made the right decision. Anyone else here turn down an acceptance?

what changed your mind number-wise between the time you submitted the deal and the time you accepted the deal? if the numbers were fine when you submitted, they'd still have been fine when the deal was accepted, right? unless your supply costs went up or something.

I'm glad to hear you got accepted (your pottery is amazingly gorgeous), but I'm sorry the deal didn't work out. I think you'd regret it more if you accepted it and then lost money and time. Did you counter offer?

i guess what i don't understand is why you'd submit a deal without having worked through everything and crunched the numbers beforehand.

i'm glad you aren't doing a deal if you will lose money.

Sorry to hear that the numbers didn't work for you but congrats on the being accepted part. If there's no benefit for you then you shouldn't do it, your work looks great!

After spending a lot of time figuring things out for my shop (with light items) I totally understand why you'd declined, dg. But I wonder - at one point there was an option to not have shipping fees included in the deal - is this still available and did you 'crunch' numbers including that scenario??

As with the others - LOVE your shop and items. You were a "Definitely Yes" from me and I would have purchased for sure!

water, I got caught up in "the excitement" hearing about other people. I didnt research it well enough to know that shipping costs were included in the vouchers use. Pottery is heavy and costs a lot to ship.
I also read a number crunch that someone posted (either here or elsewhere..I dont recall) and I hadnt taken into account.. heartsy's take, normal fees taken out on the full price, not the discounted price by etsy, and shipping costs.

and no bee, shipping was just something I never even thought about. I just assumed it was a percentage off the item itself.

If you did not feel right about it, then you made the correct decision. You can always submit again later after more people post their numbers! I am a fan of your work just like so many others here!

I agree with waterwaif. You should really do all the math BEFORE submitting. You're only going to waste Heartsy's time and yours if you start the process if you already know you're not going to go through with it all in the first place.

You know your business best. Shipping heavy things can cut into any profit. Not sure I understand why they wouldn't pay the shipping price that would go with the item. Makes no scents to me.
