"Other" payment option

I really enjoyed my Heartsy experience with one exception - ever since I've had to add the "Other" payment option I've had a hard time with non-Heartsy buyers getting confused. I guess I have to leave it up till all of the vouchers are redeemed?

It's really nice when Paypal is the only option - smooth sailing with nary a complaint.

It would be nice if maybe Heartsy could work with Etsy and there could be an option called "Heartsy Voucher" or something of the like. More specific. "Other" is just way too vague.

I even had one lady get so flustered that she asked that I cancel her order.

Anyone else experience this?

Re: "Other" payment option

its funny you mention this. I actually had heartsy voucher people PAYING through paypal. I think at least 4 people did it, which shocked me.

But I also did have a few people come through and use the "other" option out of confusion. One of the orders I cancelled, because I want to be consistent and stick with my "policies" and she did come back and re-do her order once she figured out paypal.

I was excited to shut off "other" when my deal expired, and I wouldn't have even remembered if I hadn't seen your post, so thank you!!!

Re: "Other" payment option

I too did not like taht aspect. I had a few non-vouchers customers do that and simply convo'd them and let them know I sent an invoice (via Paypal) to their email address) with an explanation that the "other" option was for Heartsy vouchers only. I don't think I had any complaints.

Also, now that I have a few straggling vouchers I've deactivated the other option with a message in my announcement for them to contact me. I then create a custom listing with all the items they are wanting and briefly activate (or if they have an overage--just make the invoice reflect the amount over--hope that is legal since they are really only spending said amount)

Re: "Other" payment option

Yes, I've had quite a few people choose OTHER when they wanted to pay with a credit card. It has been confusing and I will be glad to turn that option off in a few weeks. I also had a couple of Heartsy customers enter their voucher and then pay for the purchase in full through Paypal! They must have been super confused...

Re: "Other" payment option

I've had the same problem and I just send an invoice - however I think this has annoyed a couple customers as I never heard from them again and they never paid the voucher and I lost sales :(

Re: "Other" payment option

Glad to hear I'm not alone!

I don't think it's a MAJOR problem - and it certainly wouldn't keep me from running another offer with Heartsy.

But - I also suspect it'd be a pretty easy fix. I think if the option said "Heartsy Voucher" or "Heartsy Customers" - it would be more clear than "Other.

Re: "Other" payment option

It's a pain is what it is. I just turned it back on for our next feature, and literally 5 minutes later, I got a sale and someone clicked it. Last time we had something like 20-30 orders where people erroneously chose it, and of those, only about 1/2 eventually paid.

Re: "Other" payment option

yes, the "other" option is a nightmare. I turn mine off after about 2 weeks of the heartsy sale. I tell my heartsy people in the announcement to contact me whne they order and I will turn it back on for them. I always get a zillion people thinking other is for credit card payments.

when someone does choose "other" I convo them and ask them how they are planning to pay, and then I usually wind up sending them a paypal invoice that they can use a credit card for as a guest.

I think Etsy needs to explain this during check out.

Re: "Other" payment option

I have heard that some heartsy customers put in their voucher and also pay thru paypal, but I have had 3 heartsy features and have never had that problem.

I wish we could write next to "other" what exactly that means for our shop

Re: "Other" payment option

This drives me crazy! I've had SO many people be completely confused, and since "other" is alphabetically before "paypal," it's the default payment unless the buyer specifically looks and changes it. I can't wait until I can turn off the "other" payment option!
