I was featured on 3/11 and I'm writing down the process for applying to heartsy, what happens after you get accepted as well as my personal experience on my blog. I'm doing it in different posts as it's quite a bit of info!

great info....do you think you also want to add in your cost of materials and then net that out and that would give you profit? You may have a completely different set-up than me....just a thought:-) Nice posts on your blog!

nitelily3 your post is so helpful. Thanks for sharing what you made in cost and what fees cost you. That was so good to see. I do like heartsy. I've bought several things off there but my items are heavy to ship and I don't think I could ever offer a deal on there.

I can't wait to read tomorrows.

Again it was a wonderful informative post. I am so glad you did this. Your assessment on who would do well or not do so well was what I thought but not having the experience I wasn't sure. I like your input on purchasing.

I have bought 3 certificates and 1 I went over, 1 was a little under and 1 was right on the money.

I thought your ideas on how to price your certificate was very helpful.

Murs: It IS a scary thing to do, though I think you would do well. What are your thoughts/concerns about being featured?

Well my first thought was- how wonderful! exposure- and tons of sales all at once.
Now I'm just wondering if it's worth it. I have been reading lots of posts about how things like heartsy and bogo sales are hurting shops.

Customers are not buying until there is a sale or they feel that they are getting something at a huge discount. I will most likely do it- as sales are really low for me = for the past month. I'm not sure what to pin this on- prices- tax season- too many stores to compete with- etc.
I was hoping that Heartsy would be my answer to things...

Well it was nice for a large sum of money to show up in my paypal account after one sale. While, I did lose some money, I feel that the exposure was good for the future. I hope that some of my items may end up being christmas gifts or birthday gifts?

I know that some of the items that I bought with my certificates will be gifts, therefore spreading that shop's name even further.

Think about this: what would be the worst possible scenario and go from there? What would you & your shop gain from the exposure?

The economy is tough for handmade 'luxuries' so people are looking for discounts.
