Need a walk through on how they pay!

Okay - I'm supposed to be featured tomorrow, and I think I understand the payment method, but I just want to be clear.

It sounds like they will receive some type of code to give me and will enter that into the "other" payment option. That will allow them to "purchase" the item, but if the item is more than what the deal was for then I need to invoice them back for that amount. So, I just need to be keeping track of that and waiting to receive that other payment before I begin their order... correct?

Then, if their deal is not completely used up with their purchase I need to set up a coupon code for them so that they can still reclaim that money.... right?

It all just seems a little vague to me, so if someone could walk me through the process that would be great!

I don't know about the coupon code part but if you go to the post from nitelily3 she has a link to her blog with a spreadsheet she used.

I would imagine the same voucher can be reused: IE, a $30 voucher is bought, the first purchase = $25. Then when they come back and use "other" again with the same voucher#, you invoice them for the new Amount, minus the $5 they have left.

I plan to review and or create my own spreadsheet for tracking, for voucher use, and for remaining payment, and payments received (my own "ok to ship" tracking). I've not heard yet about expiry dates on the coupons, but I have heard Hearts provides you with a list of those purchased.

Yes, I saw her spreadsheet - so I'm guessing most of this we keep track of on our own. I wish that there was a way to have Heartsy keeping track of those things as well - or a smoother way to go through payment and not have to bill back for orders that exceed the amount of the voucher.

Thank you - thats helpful. I'm getting my spreadsheet prepared now!

Yup- you have it correct. I spent a couple hours last night invoicing back. I don't have to worry about any credit left because I structured my deal so that it would all be used up in one transaction regardless of what they bought and also that every buyer would be invoiced since the voucher wasn't enough to cover the total of one item plus shipping.

Why does the buyer have to use the 'other' payment option? I don't get that part.

When the buyer makes the payment they make it to heartsy. Then from heartsy they receive a code to use to redeem their certificate. Then you go into the sellers shop you don't want to repay again using paypal, so you select other and write a note stateing you are using a heartsy voucher and give the number.

You got it right! It's really quite simple to do, it can just get a bit overwhelming if you get a lot at once. :)

Good luck with your feature!!
