I was rejected by heartsy

I'm not upset, I was just thinking about how if I got accepted I wasn't sure if I'd want to do a deal right now anyway (not enough stock)... but I am curious why I was rejected. My stuff is completely different than most heartsy features.... soap, simple jewelry, etc.
Is my stuff just too different?

I may reapply in the future, once I build up a good amount of stock.

Hi Rune, I am sorry you were not accepted. I don't think it is because it is too different, but because of what the buyers are interested in right now. I think it is going to be a trend type thing, imo. Take for instance the majority of the jewelry that has been featured, it has the same basic aesthetic, but at some point a different type will start to be featured. I think at different times that shops that previously weren't accepted will be just because of who is voting at the time.

I also thing that heartsy people DO NOT actually look at the shop because they are overwhelmed/understaffed whatever, so they just go by votes. As for voting, did you ask for help with votes? In my fist submission I was a proud bird and didn't tell anyone hence my stats were incredibly low. The second time around I realized most of the people ask for votes and if I want to compete in such environment I have to ask for votes too... I can easily see your items on heartsy so I would totally advise to try again (if you get enough of stock for it), just this time be very active about it and don't leave the votes to fate.

I think you may be right TanyaBond in that they don't actually look at the shop, just the numbers. Heartsy has really taken off, and I wonder if it didn't succeed much faster than they thought it would and hence they have fallen behind a bit.

Rune, I say try again if you're wanting a feature. It can't hurt. Sometimes it's just a matter of finding the right voting crowd. :)

Ive been shopping on heartsy but i just decided to submit tonight. I really do hope they are looking. Like someone else said I think they follow trends. I would also keep trying, it wont hurt!

First time I tried, without asking for votes, very little self-promotion (no blog, no twitter, etc) like Tanyabond said I too was a proud bird - and didn't get the needed number of votes. Many I've heard anyway get enough votes but still get denied. And they emphasize their buyer's votes have more weight than the overall votes...

Your shop has some very neat items, and your sales show the product to be well liked. I think you'd do well trying again if you'd like to ~ it takes weeks for them to feature you anyway, so that'd give you time to build up your stock.

I still need some votes, getting a little anxious about it but then I tell myself to relax and not worry about it... but here's my link ;)

Voted for you rubisartnmore :-) I saw that everyone else was asking for votes and though it seemed a bit...off to me, I went with teh flow. I just hit my 60 but am hoping for more as I know getting the minimum isn't enough.

I'm sorry you were rejected. That happened to me on the first try too and I was eager to get my jewelry on there for exposure, and because I felt it was not in line w/ what else was being featured. I didn't ask for help or tell anybody either time, but I did change my photos and had a specific goal in mind of votes that I thought I needed in order to make it through. The recipe seems to be a little different for everybody.
Also, I thought they didn't look at shops either but now they have to at some point. The pre-feature email that goes out to shoppers has specific item names or descriptions of items in the shops (it did for me) so they have to look at your shop a little, even if it is just a skim ;)

I got the congrats letter from when I applied like two times in the past month. They have yet to decide what deal but they haven't said no yet. Well see what happens.

I think they do look at the shops. When I received my email the addressed me as my full company name, which wasn't in any of my information submitted to them.

Well they will of course look at your shop once they see the votes are good and that you are accepted via voting, but my understaning is that if votes are not to their satisfaction, they wouldn't check if your store is worthwile - they probably don't have time for that anyway, although they are missing out on great shops like rune's for instance.

Sweets, same thing happened with me the first time around and is also happening this time. The % of buyers was great until after I hit the 72 hour point, then it started dropping.

RuneLeather, I remember your shop. I'm crazy and neurotic and make sure i vote for EVERYTHING no matter what. I totally voted for it, I think i may have haerted it! I do notice that the same kind of jewlery keeps popping up several times a week so I think they are following trends. Which is a shame, since I am kind of tired of seeing all these deals on things I could make myself :(

At first I asked for votes, but by far the majority of my votes (I think I had 90-100 votes) were from shoppers...

I had a 20% of buyers saying "yes, definitely" compared with 24% which was the average feature.

I didn't think so little a difference would lead to rejection.
But again, it doesn't really matter... right now is not the best time for a feature for me, I might reapply in a few weeks.
