I hate asking for help, but..

i need to get the word out.

some of you know the story of Gimpy, the injured kitten who showed up at my house. someone had tied a rope around his hind leg and it was so embedded and swollen that i had to take him to the emergency vet to have it removed. for a week now i've been doing water treatments and physical therapy to try and help him keep his leg. unfortunately, the vet told me today that it will have to be amputated. i did talk the vet into letting me keep trying for another 10 days with the treatments and the therapies but he says the only thing that will help right now are prayers and a medical miracle.

anyway, the reason i'm posting is because i'm short the amount of money i will need for his surgery. i knew taking him in would be hell on my empty wallet but i couldn't NOT take him in!

all my jewelry sales will be going to his surgery costs so if you see something you'd like, maybe you could help? or maybe you know someone who loves pets and could use a new piece of jewelry?

the amputation surgery is going to cost $1200 and i already have $700 saved for it, so really, i'm more than halfway there! i can do $500 in two weeks, right? i wonder if heartsy would let me get in there real fast? nah, probably not.

Hopefully Gimpy will not need to loose the leg. But, animals really do adjust and are amazing when they do. I had a neighbor years ago with a dog that lost a leg from being hit by a car. It was something watching that dog chase balls and frisbees on three legs. He was a very healthy happy dog.

Reading this just brought tears to my eyes because I experienced the same thing with my cat. Her name is Misty and she was caught in a hunter's trap. I'm surprised they even let her go but they did and she came home with a very bad leg, starving and thirsty. We took her to the vet asap and he was skeptic that we could save her leg (front leg). Well we tried the antibiotics and cleaning it, just about everything we could. When it finally came down to it we had to have her leg amputated or she would die from the infection. That was 3 years ago and now you wouldn't even know there is anything wrong with her. She's adjusted better than I could have ever imagined! I just really hope the best for you and Gimpy. I am a huge animal lover and my heart goes out to all abused animals. I am glad that he has someone wonderful like you to take care of him. I will keep you and Gimpy in my prayers. I hope my story can hopefully lift your spirits!
