Heartsy and Shipping? Please Help

I'm having a feature coming up this week and Im a little bit confused as to how the voucher relates to shipping. I'm having a $11/$30" /40 VIP deal.

What will happen in the following scenarios?

1. If someone purchase goods worth $30 exactly and shipping on these items is an additional $12. Do I invoice them for the $12 shipping?

2. If someone purchase goods worth $50, do I invoice them the additional $20 plus shipping on the extra $20 only or shipping on $50 worth of goods?

3. If someone purchases only $20 worth of goods does the $10 balance on the voucher go to cover shipping or is that meant to be a balance that they can use in the future?

Any help would be really appreciated...

Thank you

Re: Heartsy and Shipping? Please Help

1. no. if someone purchases goods worth $30 exactly, then you pay the shipping.

2. if someone purchases $50 worth of goods and they are not a VIP member, you invoice them for $20 only. if they ARE a VIP member, you only invoice them for $10.

3. yes, the balance goes towards shipping.

shipping is included in the voucher price.

Re: Heartsy and Shipping? Please Help

if they have a $30 voucher, they have $30 to spend on items plus shipping. So, if their order comes to $32 including shipping, you invoice them for the extra $2. If their order including shipping comes to $28, then they still have $2 to spend later in your shop.

Re: Heartsy and Shipping? Please Help

The $30 they have are to spend on items or shipping.
1. If the total purchase including the shipping was $42 ($30 product + $12 Shipping) then you'd invoice them for $12. Anything above their voucher amount you may send an invoice for.

Congrats on your feature! :)

Call me dense coz Im more confused now. I think I need to be spoonfed! Arggh...

Waterwaif...so does that mean the voucher does not cover shipping at all? If the person purchases $30 of goods exactly, the shipping on that I will cover myself?

In the second case, if the person is not a VIP member, will I be invoicing them the extra $20 plus
1) the cost of shipping the $50 total worth of goods or
2) the cost of shipping the extra $20 of goods only or
3) I wont invoice them shipping at all?

RubisArt, thank you that makes sense now. I was worried I was going to have to foot the shipping on the vouchers

Re: Heartsy and Shipping? Please Help

Think of it as a gift card. If someone bought a $30 DVD and paid for it with a $30 gift card, they'd have to pay shipping and taxes on top of that.

Re: Heartsy and Shipping? Please Help

shipping is based on your retail pricing. shipping is covered up to the voucher amount.
If i have a $30 voucher and I order $26 worth of fabric and the shipping is $8, then the total bill is $34. So you would invoice them for the $4 over the voucher amount.

Re: Heartsy and Shipping? Please Help

I had a feature and the shop is responsible for shipping. It kinda stinks because I didnt make ANY money off my deal because they didnt tell me that up front and because my feature was out of my bakeshop well, I made nothing. Everything shipped Priority Mail small or Medium Box and after shipping was left with 50 cents to buy ingredients. Now if they bought OVER their deal or VIP price I invoiced them.

I told them after my feature that they should be very clear on shipping to future featured sellers.

yes, shipping is a big deal... it really cuts down on whatever money you might make, especially if it is international...

Re: Heartsy and Shipping? Please Help

this is still very confusing when you are getting two different responses on the way to invoice.

It was my understanding they get a $30 voucher and if the order is above that regardless of what caused it to go over, shipping, included, they would get invoiced for....

So a customer with a 30 voucher, would have to make sure they purchased their items and add in the shipping to be at the voucher amount of $30 correct?

Re: Heartsy and Shipping? Please Help

This is what I received from Heartsy on shipping...

In terms of shipping, vouchers can be used towards the shipping costs.
If a customer purchases merchandise in excess of the voucher amount,
you will invoice them prior to sending the merchandise.

Re: Heartsy and Shipping? Please Help

I have redeemed vouchers and it was the total product plus shipping minus the voucher that was my balance.

So if it is a $30 voucher and I buy a $25 product with $5 shipping, I am square. If I buy a $25 product with $10 shipping, I owe $5.

The voucher is good toward shipping, but does not include shipping.

Re: Heartsy and Shipping? Please Help

I plan to do a $14 for $30 deal. (I got 410 votes, so i am hopeful!) My shipping for $30 in product will generally run $5, with the occasional $10. So I know I will be netting $4 to $9 on my sales. I am ok with that, as I consider this an advertising fee. I will be directing to my website, so as to save etsy fees.

I also may add a handling fee to cover labels and boxes, etc. Just a dollar or so.

Re: Heartsy and Shipping? Please Help

Basically, whatever the total in the cart is, is what the voucher is used for.

If I add four items to my cart and it comes to $22.50 and then the shipping brings it to $28.00.. If I have a $30 voucher, I now have $2 left on that voucher.

Whatever the person would originally pay is what the voucher is good for. If the total in the cart exceeds $30, then invoice them.

Re: Heartsy and Shipping? Please Help

Yes, I was able to get an answer directly from Heartsy. If the voucher does not cover the total cost including shipping, then the customer gets an invoice for the difference.

Example: If the voucher is $30 and their cart is 30 plus 12 shipping, they should get an invoice for the $12 shipping.

Hope that helps.

"3. If someone purchases only $20 worth of goods does the $10 balance on the voucher go to cover shipping or is that meant to be a balance that they can use in the future?"

This didn't seem to get addressed. If they spend LESS than the voucher amount, any remaining amount IS used for shipping, so in this case you DO front the shipping cost.

About 1/2 my buyers made sure that their whole balance did NOT go over the voucher amount, so I had to front the shipping for all those purchases.

Re: Heartsy and Shipping? Please Help

The voucher is like cash.

You should plan that the shipping will come out of the 'cost' of the voucher. I am hoping to do a $14 for $30 voucher. I am assuming everyone will spend exactly $30, so I will only net $9 after shipping.

Worse case is if the have enough let over to come back a second time, and I have to pay a 2nd shipping cost. But that scenario is the minority, and not easy to do with my shop inventory. I may send second shipments First Class or something.
