I am soooooo sad! I didn't get accepted. I wonder how long I should wait until I resubmit. I think I need to have better pictures next time and have actual heartsy buyers vote for me. What would you do?

I was denied from this shop. so when i got the nerve up again I submitted my other shop. I am waiting now to see if they accept me.

Thanks! I thought for sure I would. But they explained in the email that I guess I didn't have enough heartsy buyers votes. So somehow I have to get more of those.

Those buyer votes are a bit harder to get I think....you can't necessarily ask people to vote for you....I think that's why they do it that way, they want to see how those go...trust me, I've been denied twice...three times and it's going to start to get personal!:-)

Astoria, your stuff is great. But at $2 I don't understand how you can make a profit at that price let alone with the crazy Heartsy discount!

I've never seen anything on Heartsy for under $5 so maybe they are looking for higher price point shops? Who knows!

I honestly feel guilty purchasing anything handmade on Etsy under $5 because I don't feel like the artist is making any profit, lol!

You would really freak out that I started selling on here at $0.75 per bookmark! lol But some other sellers quickly pointed out that I was just covering my etsy/paypal fees. So I have increased my prices 3 times since then. One time I went to $2.50 and sold absolutely nothing for quite awhile. I lowered them to $2 and started selling again.
I'm definietly not bringing in crazy amounts of money but I am covering expenses and making enough profit to justify a hobby. I don't think a bookmark seller is going to be able to make this into a "I quit all my day jobs and I do this all day" kind of thing.
I just don't think my products can fetch a higher price than what they are at. I could be wrong, who knows!

Maybe start offering them in a 3-pack? So you can break the $5 mark?

I can tell you I'd be more likely to buy 3 or more of your items than just one, because I think they'd make great gifts.... and because when I buy lower priced items I tend to like to buy several to save on combined shipping :)

Why not try offering them in 3, 5, and 10 packs & tag them as party/wedding favors?

I think a 3 pack is sensiable, because some of us forget where we leave our bookmarks, only to find them in the book we finished a month ago.

I also lose slippers, keys and hairpins... absentmindedness is a bad habit for a chemist.

Eek, I submitted a week ago and I got the 60 votes in about 7 hours, but I'm sure that doesn't mean to much. They probably rely pretty heavily on their own votes. I'm so worried I won't be accepted I've had such high hopes...

I only have 27 listings right now...have they ever mentioned to anyone about a certain amount of inventory to be included...I know I'm a little low.

How long did it take to be contacted after the public voting process??

Aww so sorry to hear that studio66 :( I would say don't give up but after three times I think I would feel the same as you.

Has anyone else noticed that after they reject you they put a $5 credit in your account to spend on a voucher? Cause it happened to me, now I just got to wait and see which one I want to spend it on =)

Gingersgirl - I'm too much of a chicken I guess to try and raise my prices, I'm just now starting to get a solid stream of sales and I don't want to screw it up.

Studio66, sorry to hear you got turned down. I've bought on Heartsy before and always click on "yes, definitely" when I see jewelry supplies -- but I have yet to see them run a deal!

just plain paper prints are often way more...
