$5 credit for voting?

I just saw that they are issuing a $5 credit for voting each week. Does anyone know how this works? Or what the new tab above Yes, Definitely, is all about?

Another new change with no explanation given.

Re: $5 credit for voting?

I just now noticed this! It appears that you can choose a deal when you vote and use anywhere from $1-5 of your weekly credits on that deal or spread over 5 deals. Then if you buy the deal you get that amount off. So say I used all $5 credits on a bath and body deal, then I buy that deal when it goes live. If that deal was say $14 for $30, I'd only have to pay $9. What I noticed is that at least for me, I couldn't see how many votes a particular deal had. So do we not get to see the votes anymore?

Re: $5 credit for voting?

I think that people stopped voting (or at least I did!) because Heartsy sends you at least two e-mails for every deal that you voted "yes, definitely" on. I quit voting after that - I think one e-mail would be plenty!

P.S. New member although I've been lurking for a while - I'm a buyer only on both Etsy and Heartsy, thanks to sugarplusspice for approving my application so quickly!

Re: $5 credit for voting?

Mishkat, welcome to our team. Love your avatar. I used to have a kitty very similar looking to that one. Sweetest animal ever.
On the voting note, I stopped also, or just voted occasionally. I don't check daily but it seemed that whenever I did check I was seeing the same handful of deals to vote on. I think w/ them limiting the submissions to 1 per 20 days that might change for me :)

Re: $5 credit for voting?

Yes, I just noticed the new credit too, and like FiredUp tried to find out more about it--I don't see any explanation in their policies and "learn more" section. I'm not so sure I like the change! It's rather sad to pay shoppers to vote! Thanks for pointing out that we don't get to see the votes, Saressa--I was so confused with the credit I didn't notice!

mishkat--love your avatar!

Re: $5 credit for voting?

Thanks so much for the welcome! Avatar cat is Franklin, one of our rescued kitties. He's cute and he knows it too :).

I think it's sad to pay people to vote too, TTCT. I used to vote a lot until I realized it was generating so much junk mail. ONE message per "yes definitely" vote would be plenty for me - and it would really help if they had the name of the seller in the e-mail title, too.

Re: $5 credit for voting?

I saw that the number of votes were gone too. I wonder if showing the total number of votes vs the yes definitely votes were a distraction?

My biggest problem with the way it is set now is I like to look at a shop before I decide if I want to purchase, not just those 4 pictures. I don't want to commit until then with that new button.

Re: $5 credit for voting?

Huh, weird, I'll have to check it out. I really wish they'd stop it with the "you picked a winner" emails. It keeps me from hitting "yes, definitely" very much, and now I've stopped voting entirely.

Re: $5 credit for voting?

I have to agree. One email per day is all I want or need.

Re: $5 credit for voting?

I agree. A few deals for which I voted "yes definitely" didn't ship to Canada (where I live), but I don't know this until viewing the shop. Does this mean that my credits would go to waste if I don't purchase the voucher?

I also have a similar looking grey kitty. They're the softest!

Re: $5 credit for voting?

I think it's awesome in the short run. In the long run, though....who would be paying for it?

FiredUpLadiesHammer says

-------------------

I agree completely! Plus if Heartsy really wanted me to truly commit to purchase (in most cases - excluding shops of friends), they'd have to commit to a date when they would feature the shop in question.

Gremlygirl - I, too, am sick of the "you picked a winner" e-mails. I think they send two per shop that you vote "yes, definitely" on? That's at least one too many!

Re: $5 credit for voting?

I agree with you all. It would be nice if you could check out the shop. I think it would help some submissions get more YES votes if they could see a shop. I'm sure you could use the heartsy tumble feature (if it's even still there) until you found said shop.
And yes, I don't like getting 100 emails about deals. Me personally, if I voted Yes on a deal, I'll recognize it when it goes live, and I'll buy a deal regardless of their emails. Emails have no effect on my propensity to buy.

Re: $5 credit for voting?

Also, have I been away from Heartsy too long or did they recently ditch the boutique? It's not showing up on their top banner anymore.

I think they ditched the boutique and the tumble feature. I can't find either.

Re: $5 credit for voting?

I just checked out the $5 credit feature and I will only do it on shops that I already know - for example shops that have already been featured. Or where I know the shop owner? Not sure that's a great idea...

Saressa - I am now seeing the Heartsy Boutique here:

P.S. bucky2000 - grey kitty sends purrs to your grey kitty :),

Regarding the Heartsy emails - You can change your preferences on the amount of emails you receive. Makes it easy.

Re: $5 credit for voting?

Mishkat, weird! When I go to the home page the top banner shows: Featured, All Deals, Pick Deals, Tomorrow's Deals. The 'boutique' button isn't there. Maybe they banned me (no soup for you!). J/K.

Re: $5 credit for voting?

Saressa - try clicking "Featured Deals" (not sure if this will work!) You should see plastic kids toys :)

Re: $5 credit for voting?

Oh good, you understood my Seinfeld reference. I figured anybody who didn't would just think I was a total weirdo.

Yeh, the featured deals are there but the boutique was the area where they had some of the seller's items for sale at retail price. I never used it, but I noticed it went away. Changing like crazy over there.

Re: $5 credit for voting?

So when you apply credits to a deal, are you obligated to purchase it?

Re: $5 credit for voting?

I see a new boutique thing for the Green Toys site... it says something about their boutique features exclusive deals from independent designers, I guess they don't have to be handmade??

Re: $5 credit for voting?

ZebrasandBubblegum, I don't think you are obligated to purchase it - you just say that that "deal" is where you want your credit on. (It's sort of easy to change this - I'm saying "sort of" because it took me a while to figure it out!)

Re: $5 credit for voting?

pennywishes, I've sold vintage on Heartsy and so have other sellers. There are also supply shops that've sold on Heartsy. Doesn't have to be handmade. :)

And thanks for clarifying, Mishkat!
