I'm in no way an expert but have done a ton of reading in the last 2 days regarding the new Facebook fan pages and quite a few experiments.
Here is what I found out so far.
1. Liking someone else's fan page with your own fan page doesn't actually 'fan' the page - it just adds it to your faves (listed as likes) which is displayed on the left hand side of your fan page.
2. It doesn't change the fan numbers of a fan page if fanning from another fan page as again, it just adds it to your faves.
2. From a fan page, you can only 'fan' 500 other pages.
3. To fan a page, you still need to do it from your personal page.
4. If you are doing shoutouts for other pages, you will need to have fanned them from your fan page for the '@' to work. This impedes the 500 fan pages as there are 1,000's of fan pages out there. For example, on my personal page, I have fanned over 2,000 fan pages - not all of which I would do shoutouts for but, it means I have a finite number pages I can include in my own shoutouts.
5. On your personal page on the top line next to the word 'Facebook' you have 3 symbols, a) Friend requests, b) Personal Messages c) Notifications. On your fan page on the same line next to the word 'Facebook' you have 2 symbols, a) the personal name of a person who has fanned your page and, b) Notifications.
Anyone else found out other things??
I'd like to know as much as possible.
