New items and descriptions doubts

I listed 8 new items today ( hoping to get to 25 tonight) and while I'm feeling pretty good about this, I'm not so sure my descriptions are great. Could you please take a moment and tell me what you think?

I think the descriptions sound good! They're very detailed, which is what makes buyers feel comfortable purchasing your items. Nicely written!

Re: New items and descriptions doubts

As some who uses unique materials to create unusual pieces, I have to say that I love the unique materials you've used in your designs! You could maybe create a little story around the materials you've used or appeal to our inner geek & talk a little about lava or some of your other materials. Cool shop :)
The rest of your description is practical, but not engaging. I think I've gotten away from the story telling thing myself, so this is also a great reminder for me to revisit those descriptions.
It's good that you've broken up the listing into blocks, so a customer can browse & read as much or as little as they want, without having to go through a big block of text.
I hope this helps!

Re: New items and descriptions doubts

Thanks, Beth :) BTW, have you been working on your photos? They look great.

samsstuff - It does help. The truth is I'm not very good at story telling when it comes to things I make. I kind of have this horror-flick vision of myself as a used car salesman -shudders-
But just because I'm not good at it doesn't mean I can not do it thanks for reminding me about that.
And thanks for the compliment, too.

Re: New items and descriptions doubts

Hi -- Beautiful jewelry. I think your descriptions are good. I know it's hard to write a bunch of them in a row -- your brain starts to get numb! I agree with Samsstuff -- maybe you could describe your materials a little more. As a non-jewelry person, I'm curious about Carnelian -- what is it? where does it come from? does it have any special properties? Hearing about what makes the materials special and/or why you choose them might entice a buyer to click the "Add to cart" button.

Re: New items and descriptions doubts

I think your descriptions are fine. You include detail but don't overwhelm the buyer with overly wordy paragraphs. If you're looking to include more backstory or a more detailed paragraph, you can always turn the technical information into very concise bullet points to cut down on wordiness.

I have a new shop: chelsearainbow.etsy.com
I have always loved jewelry and I love the relationship that women have with their jewelry. It makes us feel beautiful, feminine, and powerful. It affects us in many ways, and even if a piece does not cost thousands of dollars, it is still precious to us.
