This artwork challenges the senses, asking us to redefine the connection between our conscious and subconscious mind. Drawn to the arcing streaks of white which capture a sense of volume and motion, the viewer is then confronted with a coalescence of bold, lustrous colours. Instinctive and primal, these are, in turn, opposed by pockets of transparency which permit the viewer to glance “through the looking glass.”
In darkness, the lights can be switched on for a dramatic display. The varied depth and consistency of the paints gives the glass a unique opacity - embers swell into existence, then vanish, only to be replaced by another hue in another place; the effect is hypnotic.
