Market in Melb

Hi,
I am thinking of maybe trying out markets. I think my items would sell better when customers could touch and feel when they purchase.
Just wondering which market that works well, and what basic guidelines that I would need to seek out for from market organisers.
I know that some would have a $50 fee- will sales for the day cover that fee? My items are cheap and $50 sounds a lot to me to try to sell for the day.

Dee.

Re: Market in Melb

Hi Dee,
many markets are getting pretty expensive with $ 60 ++. I do not know how people with low prices items do it as they have to sell heaps to just cover the rent - as you say.
If I look at your work - what turns up in my mind is the Rose Street market. I think it is fitzroy or brunswick you should be able to goggle it. if the price hasn't changed much it is $ 40 and the set up is easy and the organizers great people. best you go there one sat or sunday and check it out and talk to other stall holders there.
all the best
martina

Thanks Martina. I have been to Rose St Market and I feel like there is a lot of competition going on there- I guess the thing is that my items are common to a lot of markets. Need to dig my brain for some originality.
Thanks again!! Will have to keep looking.

Re: Market in Melb

I tried North Melbourne Market last weekend - stall fee was $25 and I didn't make it back! It was a freezing cold day and we were placed down the back of the building, which didn't help, but like Martina says, the Rose St Market may be better.

Maybe try in the new year once people are back from holidays and their wallets have recovered. Hope this helps.
