Re: Shop critiques!

Hi Ashlee! Thanks for the invite.
Things I like 1) The branch is a lovely prop 2) You have a nice variety of jewelry
3) Love the banner

Suggestions 1) When I look at the page and see the same prop it feels like each listing is the same. Though the jewelry is different it makes it all look the same. I would suggest a couple different props.
2) Your jewelry is getting lost on the large branch. Maybe get closer to the jewelry and show less branch.
3) Your lighting is making your background look lavender which is making everything look pastel. A white background shows of your colors better. ETSY has some great tips on photographing jewelry in there Sellers Handbook and blogs.

I hope this is what you are looking for. I would appreciate feedback as well if you have the time.

Re: Shop critiques!

Hi Ashlee!

First let me say your jewelry is lovely!

Love:
1- your message
2- uniformity of your shop...pleasing to the eye
3- your banner

Criticisms:
1- Add a shop announcement
2- Item descriptions: Don't get me wrong, I love the names/messages BUT it's my understanding to help in searches you should "Try to describe your item the way a buyer would". For instance, a buyer is not going to search "Let Your Light Shine Bracelet"
3- Pictures: In my opinion, the pictures could be zoomed in a bit on the items you are selling. The jewelry gets a little lost in the big scheme of things. Maybe they get lost a little on the branch?

I hope I was not TOO critical! I welcome any and all comments and suggestions for my shop as well :)

Thank you,

Sarah

Re: Shop critiques!

Thank you to both of you! I really appreciate the feedback and I completely see where both of you are coming from from. I am hoping to have time this weekend to re-photograph!

Nancy,

1. Your hummingbird theme is wonderful and very consistent!
2. I love the way you wrote your about and profile pages.
3. Your shop policies are very detailed!

Honestly had a really hard time finding anything to criticize in your shop. It is beautifully done.

1. I dont know if I am reading it wrong but something seems off in your second paragraph of your profile...
"as well as garnered and education.. " I could just be reading it wrong but I was having a hard time with the last sentence.
2. I would love to see more of the eggs in your banner but really that's just my personal preference and probably isn't very helpful.
3. I read a blog today that said we should have pictures of ourselves working in our workspaces or just of our workspaces in general to help our customers connect to us.

Hope this helps, and thank you again for your advice!

Sarah

1. Love all of your products!
2. Great photography!
3. Great organization for the different types of wreaths.

I really enjoyed looking through your shop and I saw you you're pretty new to Etsy so my advice is probably stuff you are already already working on on and stuff I need to work on myself.

1. You have a profile which is is well written but I could not find an about page.
2. There was no shop policies, they are pretty important because they help our customers trust us.
3. Do you always plan to only ship to the US? I think you you could do well if you shipped to other countries as well :)

Thank you for your advice and no it was not too critical!

Re: Shop critiques!

Thank you for the suggestions! Will definitely be working on my policies and everything else I left blank :) Shipping is intimidating to me in general but I will look into shipping internationally as well. I can see where that would help.

Re: Shop critiques!

Hello

I just opened my jewelry shop a couple weeks ago. I know I need a banner ASAP but I would love to hear what other sellers think about it. :)

Re: Shop critiques!

Thank you...Do you have a design idea in mind? At first I was going to change my banner with the seasons, but then decided that it was a better idea to really tie it all together. Avatar, business cards, thank yous, etc. So, I guess I don't have any specific advice for you, but I would say think about an image or cohesive look that will flow from one aspect of your business to the next. Make any sense?! Go to the etsy home page and click on shops of trending items. I feel like something simple and with your shop name is best. Good luck :)

Re: Shop critiques!

Desiree"...WOW your jewelry is lovely! Nicely photographed and you show it off well. When I look to buy at a shop I read the about page, the policies and every bit of info I can find on the shop. I don't know if everyone does but I like to know who I am buying from. My only suggestions to you would be find a banner that compliments your shop and fill in every tab you can in profile and settings. Your shop looks great!

Regards and Happy Sales,
Nancy the Bead Lady

Re: Shop critiques!

Nancy,

I really like your shop and your story in your 'about' section. I also like how clear and concise all of your policies are. You've also got a great variety of stock - lots for customers to choose from.

Now for the criticisms... and this was tough! One thought is that some of your photos are a bit dark and shadowy making it difficult to see the details of your beautiful pieces. Also, while I like your shop banner, it's a little unclear and pixel-y. Can't come up with a 3rd, sorry!
