Hi there new team members! This is your captain Sheryl, I run Noadi's Art here on Etsy and also write the Handmade Business Blog. I started the blog almost 2 years ago to share what I've learned running my shop.

Now that anyone can start a team here on Etsy I've decided to create this team for people to share and discuss business topics with each other.

Julie...thanks for all those links! wow! I was just telling a friend of mine working out of the home is really harder than folks think. You really need to treat it like any other job. So, with that in mind. I dedicate postings on my facebook and I was wondering about that site StumpleUpon...thanks for the update on that. I am definatley checking out those others you mentioned. Trying to update stuff is really important.
Well, thanks again July your information for me was very helpful. I am hoping I can pass on some useful information for everyone too one day. :)

Hello there! My name is Amanda and I run my shop http://luxeloft.etsy.com selling custom wall decals. I joined this group so I can learn how to promote myself. I am so impatient that I expect buyers to just come to me and magically make a million sales, but I've realized that's not quite the case. I need to learn how to get buyers to come to me through promotions!

I live in Tasmania and I have made my living mostly from selling my handmade art and craft work for a very long time (supplemented with a bit of teaching as well). In the last couple of years I have discovered the vast world of online selling and my Etsy store has done really well since I opened it.
Earlier this year I resigned from my part-time high school art department job to concentrate full time on my hand-made business. So glad I did!

Hi, my name is Ann. I’m an artist, a seamstress and an engineer and I wanted to start a business. At first I tried selling my artwork. But right now, people around my local area aren’t buying high-end art. So I wanted to find a product that people both needed and wanted.
After much thought, I came up with the idea of BraCraft. I’ve been trying to be very methodical about this shop I just created. I want to run it as a proper business. So in addition to adding items to my shop, I want to make a business plan, do market research, have a marketing plan, set up proper bookkeeping and inventory controls. I’m hoping that being in the company of like-minded shop owners will help keep me on track.

Hi everyone! I'm new on Etsy, and excited to be here and to be part of this "team". I live in Ravenswood, West Virginia which is a little town in the middle of nowhere. :c)

I was browsing the internet one day and I came across a nice lady in North Carolina that makes handmade beaded jewelry. When I saw her work I thought to myself (and told my husband) "Hey! I can do that!" So I did a little research, found some nice beads and some decent wire and started stringing. I've been hooked ever since!

Making the jewelry is very calming to me so I love doing it. I'm still learning a lot, and I have to look up a lot of different things. I'm always willing to learn new techniques, take critiques, and find out cool ways to promote my new shop.

I look forward to talking with some of you, and as I said I'm very excited to be started on Etsy!
