Pen display stands

Hi all. I´m getting ready for my first craft show and I was wondering if anybody knows where I can find some good plans for pen stands. The acrylic ones are nice but a bit pricey. I´m thinking of making some out of wood that are similar to the acrylic stands but am always looking for new design ideas

Re: Pen display stands

I have several of the acrylic stands. I got them from pennstateind.com. They were great for the Christmas expos I went to.

Re: Pen display stands

I like the acrylic stands because the pens look better against the clear plastic vs a wooden stand where the wood tones can conflict (color wise) against each other. Both Rockler and Woodcraft also sell acrylic pen stands. I like the vertical stacking pen holders better then the ones where the pens are displayed "standing up", resting on the nibs. The vertical stacking holders are more stable and the pens don't get inadvertently knocked over like they do on the horizontal holders. But that's just my preference.

Re: Pen display stands

I agree horizontal is better. If making them from wood, choose a very plain wood or paint them, so they do not distract from the pens.

Re: Pen display stands

I agree with matthew.

Acrylic stands are nice because they are almost invisible against your pens. Wood tends to make everything blend.

These may be a little out of the OP's league, and I don't want to hijack this thread, but these are the displays I use: http://www.classicnib.com/the-classic-pen-displays.html I stand with these 100%, and they are well worth every penny of investment. They work wonders at higher-end shows, and busy places where you don't want customers just picking things up.

Re: Pen display stands

hey used to run the shows, & my best displays were made from alil wood & simple pen or, jewelry display trays in black or grey! they hold 5 pens in 1 tray & very easy to pull out 1 tray with 5 choices! you can find the trays on ebay fairly reasonable & its not hard to build a case to hold 20- 25 pens! heres an example of what im talking about! http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-5-SLOT-JEWELRY-DISPLAY-TRAY-BLACK-INSERT-SET-BRACELET-/110755299838?pt=LH_... this is not who i bought mine from & have no links to this but you can get them in 5- 10 pen slots & they are very easy to transport in the soft cases available! Re: Pen display stands

I would be so happy if you guys could check my pen stands and tell me what you think! I am planning to make different animal figures, but still couldn't decide which one...
