Increasing Views

Hi,

I know that this topic has been hashed and rehashed thousands of times, but I am wondering what I can be doing to increase views on my shop? I've been working on SEO, descriptions and tags, but so far today I am at 3 views. I know that views do not necessarily translate into sales, but I do think that more views equals a greater chance for snaring the customers attention.

Oh, one last question. Do you use Etsy search adds?

I have been arguing with myself about this one for the last two weeks and hear about equal opinions from those who say you do and those who say you don't.

Hi John,

Your right in the fact that the more views you get the better chance you have at making a sale. I Love your work and your pictures are bright and very clear which can be a reason why people don't get very many views. That isn't a problem for you.

Etsy has a bunch of articles on SEO. I have read them all and now I feel pretty comfortable with it. I would suggest that you read up on all of those articles if you haven't already.

Here are just a few pointers I can give you.

1) Search ads are a waste of money!

2) Be specific in your tags and titles. Its better to show up on the first page of "Awesome pens for guys" then to be on page 100 of "pens."

3) Use free sites to promote your items. Facebook, Twitter, Weebly, and blogs. The more links you have out on the web the higher you will be Google ranked.

Try rearranging your shop..somehow, I don't know why, I seem to get
more views when I rearrange inventory.
This is a slow time, so use it to build your inventory for black Friday.

I notice increased views and likes when I list items in different team pages I've joined. Several teams have 'gifts for men' listings and others, even items listing by color, which means someone is looking to put together a Treasury.

Perhaps everyone knows and does this. If you have 5 items renewing in 4-5 days,place one in renewal each day. That gives you something going every day and if someone fancies it,they may look over your other items as well. But then,you knew this,didn't you?

I notice more views when I create treasuries and when I pin, tweet and Facebook items. This has helped my shop a lot! From August 9 - September 30 my shop had 218 views (80 shop, 138 items), 43 favorites (6 shop, 37 items) and none sold.... Then October 1-31 my shop had 479 views (104 shop, 375 items), 203 favorites (19 shop, 184 items) and 3 sold items! I plan to keep on going.... Happy selling!

I used to think that getting lots of views was just the best thing but then I realized that it isn't so much the quantity of views as it is the quality also. Your pens are beautiful but you are pricing yourself too low. Sometimes people also see cheaper as not as good. The trick is getting lots of product up and to keep adding and promoting yourself. I post all of my pens to may places including teams, websites and social media. You have to figure out what people are searching for and use those terms in your listings and keep using them. I have gotten to the point that I even hit page one of google searches with my key terms. You have to go to other peoples etsy sites and look around and favorite their listings this will also get you looked at. I know if I get lazy for a few days my views will go down too. if you want to be in business you have to work at it there is no magic recipe. Work hard you will prosper.
