Health Tips

I am always looking for health tips...so I thought I would start this thread and share some of mine. Please share yours too!

I use plain yogurt instead of Sour Cream. After awhile, you won't even notice the difference. It also doubles well for yogurt in the morning, I add honey or vanilla for flavour.

I rarely eat regular pasta anymore. I always use spaghetti squash in place of pasta. Sooo easy, and if paired with a good sauce, just as good as spaghetti. I don't feel as bad eating a ton of it, because it is just a vegetable. (let me know if you need a recipe)

I shred lots of vegetables and hide them in ever thing. I especially love shredded beets. I put them on my salad, in my spaghetti sauce, in chilli, in soups, etc. They might change the colour a bit. I also hide any other type of vegetable in many things, chop em up small and put them in.

Hmmmm...I have more, but I think this will get us started!

I've noticed that when I'm in motion, I tend to stay in motion. It helps to have projects to keep you busy. I also don't think much about snacking when I'm busy with projects.

I do spend a lot of time at the computer with my graphics so I make a point to get up a couple times an hour and move. Do something, anything, even some Pilates moves.

I'm a tea junkie. I love the taste of freshly squeezed lemon in my freshly brewed tea. I also like drinking it out of pretty glasses. Somehow it makes it more satisfying.

I like the challenge of taking regular recipes and playing with them to make them healthier. I've come up with some of our favorites that way.

Instead of using butter or mayo on sandwiches I put on a couple of pickles to give it that "moist" addition.

Like you, I have more as well. This is a start.

These are great ideas. I would love the recipe for the spaghetti squash dish. Sounds great. I am trying to drink TONS of water and I add some lemon juice occasionally. I also try to grab fruit for a snack instead of other fattening foods.

I also have cut the squash in half and then scooped out the middle and put it int he oven with some olive oil or in the microwave. i actually tried a weight watchers recipe (did you say in another forum you joined weight watchers?) with spaghetti squash...let me see if i can find it...

Here it is. I would recommend using some more spices in the meat, it was tasty but a bit bland...enjoy!

Yes, I am in weight watchers and at my weigh-in tonight I am down 14 lbs. I am very pleased but I also have been working out a lot and I think that has really made the difference. Thanks for the link.
