Printer Recommendations

Hi all!

I am looking to invest in a new printer for my stationery+paper goods shop. My maximum budget is $450-550.00 and I am really interested in the Epson line of printers, but I am willing to purchase from other brands, if the printer fits my needs.

I am in need of a color printer that can accept card stock as heavy as 100lb. Wide Format is preferred, but not necessary. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?

Any input will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Ardiana

We used an OKI in design school and it had good color. I like Epson's okay, but they tend to go dry really fast if you're not using them every day.

Re: Printer Recommendations

At the print shop I worked at we printed on " Cannons" and it handled card stock very well. But, the machine was expensive. If its a one or two color job you might try getting a few quotes from local printers. The shelf life of the print is better quality. And some of them will work with you if they think its repeat business.

But, outsourcing can be expensive and inconvenient...If it were me, I'd bring my card stock to the store and ask the sales assistant for a print demo on the epson before you invest.

I purchased the Canon Pixma Pro 9000 Mark II and I couldn't be happier. It had been years since I used an inkjet and I was a bit nervous and skeptical, but it does a great job. The colours match perfectly to what's on my monitor, and the quality of the print is superb. Mostly I print on luster papers, but I've also printed on card stock and the results are wonderful!

After much research (I sometimes over research! LOL) I ended up picking the Canon IP4920 - but my budget was smaller than yours. The color output is fabulous!

The Canon Pixma Pro series was highly recommended on all the sites.

Im very happy with my Epson 1430 wide format.
it makes great photos and it's been dead reliable so far.
My only regret is that I thought all Epsons used pigment ink but this one uses dye based ink, so it can't make giclee prints.
Pretty good deal at $300
