Hi Lynndy,
I just checked out your shop and your shoes are adorable. I also checked in at your blog and wish I had more time to read more but I'll check in with it often to see what you're up to!
I knit and sew and make a lot of my own patterns and I did recently put a knitting pattern on my shop. There was a bit of a sting when I let the first one go but I didn't mind much after that. I did ask for credit for the design when possible and that no one duplicates and sells the actual pattern. I allowed sales from items made from my pattern because I know that's why many people buy patterns on Etsy. I don't think you can ever be 100% sure that people will respect your rights to your pattern and design but I've also seen designers get ripped off when they don't sell their patterns and someone manages to copy their work and design a VERY similar (almost exact) replica of the design and claim it is their own because they want to be able to sell items they make. By selling my pattern, I feel like I'm getting ahead of the game by making it available.
I don't know if that's helpful but good luck with your shop and with your patterns!
Sara
