Re: Sellers, Buyers, Customs. Help!

Okay, I've got one. I'm preparing my first international order, and it needs to be a bit of a rush job. Can anyone tell me approximately how long a package with first class postage would take to reach somewhere in Great Britain? Should I be prepared for two to three weeks?

Thanks!

Re: Sellers, Buyers, Customs. Help!

I would love some tips from people who sell internationally. I am so afraid of selling outside of the US because I just don't know what I'm doing. But I have had admirers that have told me the wish I sold to other countries. HELP
Thanks in advance!

Re: Sellers, Buyers, Customs. Help!

I have had a couple international sales on my current shop and several on my old shop years ago. It is not as scary as you think! I just shipped some bracelets to the UK for around $9.00. Only difference is price and a little extra paperwork! I also just purchased a postal scale from walmart for $20 and it has changed everything!!! You can now enter the weight of your items in your listing and if someone international purchases it, it will charge them exact shipping so you don't have to guess and pray you were right! That is the easiest way I have found. Plus with the scale you can just print the label right from home. let the post office know and they'll grab it with the mail.

hope that helps?

Re: Sellers, Buyers, Customs. Help!

Prices have recently gone way up and are not in catagories. I think alot of Europeans pay alot for shipping so they may buy. I actually on some items pay a little of the shipping cost myself because , a sale is better than no sale! I use to sell a good amount internationally. I also ship through Etsy and add some insurance (post office way too expensive). There is a chart for international prices. I have gone back to shipping in padded envelopes for some items (smaller so they are under 8 oz) so 13.75 instead of if they are 9 or 10 oz in a box- 22.50.
Putting the weight so people can choose is a good idea if you can, I have too much variey and was thinking if you choose that option you have to do it will all your items? Not sure. Anyone know?

I have actually written a letter to the Post Master General of the U.S complaining about the new prices!! Wish more people would then maybe they would change??? And u.s. prices are crazy a bit too, Parcel post is more expensive than priority??!!! that shows they are crazy and dont know what they are doing in my book. they also have to be losing money!

As far as Great Britain, you never know 10 days, sometimes longer. The Netherlands is usually within 5 days. U.K. is the longest it seems.

We ship all over the world (with a few exceptions) using usps, and I find it to be very dependable. Our packages (with a few exceptions) make it just about anywhere within 7-10 days.
