help!

Hi y'all! I need help - I'm an Etsy newbie. I see so many listings get hundreds of views within a few minutes of listing. Evidently the listing views are important as they apparently bring that listing to the forefront of thousands of other listings - am I right? I am very humbled by all of the incredible artists here on etsy and know that I have a lot to learn, but we all have to start somewhere! Do you have any advice on how to bring up the views? I am learning that the photography is maybe the most important part of getting listing views aside from the work itself. Is my stuff that bad? (laughing at myself). Anyway, looking for any advise or constructive criticism. I know that just because I am addicted to beading doesn't mean I'm an artist! :) Peace Love Joy!

Re: help!

Hello, I'm somewhat new myself. I opened a etsy account a long time ago and had a few items there but then didn't do anything with it until recently.

It takes some time to build up your business
The best way to get views is to always post new stuff first
Then you want to renew your listings but this can get expensive
Promote outside of etsy,,,,,,Facebook, blogs, twitter etc.

Best of luck
God Bless!

Re: help!

Hiya, from the posts that I have read in the handbook you need to be spending some time on Etsy every day to build up your presence on the site.

When I first joined up I loaded 10 items in one day, my views went crazy but didn't result in sales. I have only had one and been on here since August :( So, don't get too hung up on your view sales are more important :)

Anyway, its a challenge and as long as you continue to enjoy making jewelery I say don't be disheartened, just find room for your stock <3

Re: help!

I think your pictures look great. Probably the one thing that you and I both could work on is the detail or description section.
Try to build up links outside of etsy back to your jewelry.
Best of luck!

Re: help!

BeadingHearts, it looks like you're off to a good start, don't be discouraged, *no one* gets hundreds of views within minutes of listing an item (unless it happens to be on the front page). Those listings that you see with lots of views are renewed items that have been in a shop gathering views for months.
It takes time to develop a presence, the best you can do is have good pictures (you do), and make sure your tags are as relevant as possible for the type of searches your customers are likely to do.
