Hey everyone! The July 2012 Game of the Month is... Monster Hunter! Make an item inspired by any of Capcom's Monster Hunter series!

I am SO excited to see what everyone comes up with! I've been a huge fan of this game since the first Monster Hunter on PS2. Since then, I've been playing and collecting everything from figures to ramen noodle cups; sound drop keychains to toilet paper! XD

Monster Hunter is a multiplayer action RPG where you hunt monsters to collect weapons and armor... in order to fight BIGGER monsters! If you are looking to create Etsy items based off badass wyverns and crazy giant weaponry, this is your game! But there are lots of cute things to be inspired by, too, like your pet pig, Poogie; your little pygmy friend, Shakalaka; or your adorable Felyne helpers who cook, farm and even hunt with you!

I will choose my favorite item on July 31st. The winner will choose next month's game and start a new thread announcing the chosen game on the first of August!

Yaaaay! I have always been interested in Monster Hunter, and I have one of the games for my PSP, but I have never gotten around to playing it. Now I have the perfect excuse!

I am really going to try to set aside time to get my piece completed for this month. I still haven't gotten my Diablo piece finished, but I am planning on completing it!

So I started playing Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, and it's the first time I have ever played Monster Hunter. I feel kind of bad when I kill monsters that aren't attacking me, has anyone else ever felt that way? Or am I being sensitive? :P

Oh man, I'm so sorry for not responding sooner to this thread! I got back from Comic Con last week and I've been swamped trying to catch up with work once I got back. Thank goodness for the weekend!

Jen- The Wii game (MH3) is definitely much easier than the original PS2 game, in terms of farming materials for instance, and there are lots of improvements to the game, including camera and organization of your item box. However, if you compare MH3 to the PSP games, I feel that Freedom Unite and Portable 3G are by far the best versions of the game. I love the environment in 3G, as well as the new wyverns, the ability for players to bring their hunting cats into multiplayer mode. They also made a lot of tweaks to the crafting system that makes life so much easier! Plus, there's a hot spring that gives you buffs!

Michelle - Hahaha, when I first played Monster Hunter I felt a bit sorry for the wyverns and monsters, too! (Well, except for the Bullfango, that guy is one of the most annoying creatures in the game!) It's true, the monsters are just minding their own business until you paintball them and start hacking away at their hides. But I can tell you that the sympathetic feeling is only fleeting, once you have a fire-breathing Rathalos or Nargacuga on your tail! Hahah! XD

Michelle, you're being sensitive - I was the same way when I started playing World of Warcraft as an undead. I had to kill about 10 wolves, but they didn't attack first! I was such a noob I thought I could get around it but it was like the first or second quest :P

I still get a little upset if I get a killcam while killing a wolf in Skyrim.
