Each year artists from all walks of life gather in the woods of Vermont to form a community for one week, we call it Firefly. In this sanctuary people are free to express themselves without boundaries. Obscurities, creativity and individuality are the norm. In the nature of radical inclusion and participation, we create our own experience here on an individual and group level. We all contribute whether it be a fruit platter, a humungous art installation, fire performance, handmade costumes, being a ranger or greeting new comers at the gate. Burns are named for the ritual burning of an effigy during the festival. We build a wooden firefly structure in the field and gather round to dance, drum, spin fire and howl at the moon as we watch our creation burn!
Firefly is the highlight of my year! All of my proceeds from this sale will be used to get me to Vermont and used to create a better experience for my fellow fireflies.
