Tips on Making Bone Cast Molds

Hello there! I'm Christine, a fellow Etsy store owner.. Or at least in the process of starting up one! I do a lot of jewelry involving animal remains (found ethnically!) and it's a bit tedious using real ones over time and it really limits what I can make, especially if I want to make more than quantities of 10.

I just want to know how you guys would go about making bone molds and what type of materials would you recommend? Some have recommend resin because it's durable and looks/feel like real bone, others said urethane plastic.

I'm hesitant on making the molds because bones are so fragile! So any advice will help :)

Christine I do it. you want to use silicone to make your molds. Look on Youtube I think there are some videos on how to do it. If not watch the ones on making a mold with silicone it is the same process. I just finished a skull enlargement mold which came out great.
