I never lived in a place where they had association fees. We live away from busy streets also and only about 5 mins from a grocery store. We once had farmland all around us but a developer bought the farmland and built more houses. I don't know where I would want to live again. Something to ponder in my old age!
Yeah, we moved here in 97 (house one). Built another house and moved in 99 (house two). When we moved out here there was a ton of farmland and a handful of stores. Now we have an outlet mall and almost every big box store and restaurant you can think of. Crazy growth. Our sub dues are almost $2000 annually, we have a beach on the lake and two marinas. 40 of the 240 homes in our sub are lakefront yet 70% or so of our sub dues go to the lakefront costs....crazy.
Way to hot here, right now mid 90's. My nice neighbor came over this morning and cleaned up my courtyard before it got to hot. Looks great. He said he did not trust me with the lawnmower, I had used a to low of a level for the blades.
I wish my association dues were only 2000 annually, Mine is closer to 2600.
I have to ask, what do the dues cover if they don't mow your lawn? Around our area, it covers lawns and snow removal. We looked at several places that had HOA since we are getting older.
It covers the complex lawns but not each private courtyard lawn, sewer, water, roofs and exterior building repairs. Tree maintenance, gutters, roads through out the complex. At one time it covered trash but that was changed to each unit paying their own. We used to have a pool and tennis court but they need lots of repair. Building insurance.
All the ones around here we looked at didn't cover sewer, water or gutters. Some did have club houses, pools, tennis courts, etc. All of the ones mowed the lawns though.
Our association pays to upkeep the common areas, trails, ponds and beaches/marina. They also cover trash pick up and snow plowing of the roads. As to each home they do nothing for us, we cut our lawns, trim our trees, shovel our snow. Plus they like to stay in your business, so if you paint your porch or front door or something....they will tell you that you cannot do that and send you a fine with a notice to change it back within 30 days or face harsher fines. Our association is pretty much a waste of money outside of plowing and trash pickup.
Wow Tim. I wouldn't like that either. Would they rather you not paint even if the paint is peeling off or is it the color? All the HOA's we looked at in our area plowed roads, shoveled sidewalks, mowed everyone's lawns, pulled the weeds. Some of them covered exterior work on the home but those fees are higher. I wouldn't want to move there if they didn't mow your lawn or shovel the sidewalks. I don't understand what the purpose of paying would be then. Do they have 55+ communities in your states? We have them here but I'm not sure I would want to live there either.
It is so hot and humid here. I'm not going out today anymore.
Just got back from running errands and I am dying from the heat. I am sitting right under the air vent in the living room trying to cool off. I brought in the perishable groceries and left the paper items in the trunk until I cool off.
Anne I agree. I do not know how many buyers are in on the test but since they started this one I have had no sales. To me it just makes it look like you are charging outrageous prices.
I just signed up at Artyah and now I see you have to pay them $5.00 through paypal to verify your identity. I wonder if that was there all along. I don't remember seeing that before.
I thought they had dropped that when everyone was going to make the big switch. I do not remember seeing that either when I checked the site out last. I still may list some of my already made items that are not selling on etsy. As long as it is only one time charge , I guess that is not to bad.
I see admin dropped the shipping test ,,I hope that is a permanent death and not just a only while we make more changes to test. I saw f=very few people that liked that one , sellers or buyers. It caused way to much confusion and who knows how many lost sales.
I saw the shipping test was done and I'm hoping for good.
I didn't see anything in the information for Artyah that mentioned the fee for Paypal. I only saw it after I signed up. I can't go any further until I pay for that so I just left it go for now.
I am still sitting on the fence as to opening a shop on Artyah. I have not heard of anyone getting lots of views or sales. Of course, it is still in the building stage.
The weather was finally a little cooler today but of course we had to have out daily rain storm. My neighbor was funny , he saw me coming home from the post office almost running from the car to the house.
He said you are sure moving better today, he laughed when I told him I was just trying to beat the rain and if I stopped moving I would fall down. My knee and back were killing me but the sky was getting darker and darker as I got closer to the house.
We have a nice cool day today and had our rain storm yesterday. I didn't do anything on Artyah yet. I did send a question to the owner and it was answered quickly.
Good evening gang. I had my life long buddy over visiting since Sunday from Canada so I have been MIA. Since my sales are also MIA I figured I didn't miss much....lol!
Glad you were able to send time with your buddy. Did not miss much on etsy.
Another very hot day here with the daily thunderstorm. It started raining just as I was leaving the mailbox so I sat in the car with the AC on and read the mail When it finally stopped and I headed back onto the house the humidity was so bad that my glasses fogged up. Thankfully, they are just for reading so I had no problem getting into the house with them in my hand.
I hate waiting for people. I use oxygen at night and it is time to be recertified by Medicare . They had deemed I qualify but must have a new machine. The oxygen company is supposed to be here between 11:00 and 3:00 so here I sit. I guess it is going to be the 3:00 window. I need to get to the post office but was afraid to leave this morning in case they came early. Hopefully, they will be on time so I can get there before it closes.
I hate that Debbie. Seems like everything we have ever needed service on gives us the dreaded appointment window....and they rarely make it in that time slot.
