I just realized how the new fees work and I'm not real happy ...
I was aware
*fees are now taken from our shipping
*the fees are taken in real time not once a month
What I did not realize was now I am (and YOU ARE) charged a transaction fee more than once.
*1st fee is a PROCESSING FEE - this is charge on the total amount which includes shipping and any tax charged. 3% + .25 every time we pay through etsy
*2nd fee is a TRANSACTION FEE - this is a charge on the items purchased only, not to include the shipping
*3rd fee is a TRANSACTION FEE ON SHIPPING CHARGES - on Shipping and we are charged a second time.
I'm not happy so I am venting here. Read it or Don't read it (your choice) but I've got to get this out. I know there are some outrageous shipping fees charged on etsy, do they think this will bring them down? My shipping fees may have to go up or the prices on some items may have to increase or I may have to find a different forum to sell my wares and craft supplies.
Here's an example: a sale in Jan 2019.
total $10.76 (fee - 3%+.25 =.57) <--------------- transaction fee
etsy added then removed a sales tax
purchase $6.30 (fee - 5% = .32) <----------- transaction fee
s/h charges $3.85 (fee - 5% = .19) <----------- fee on shipping charges
sales tax I did not charge .61 (this amount was included in the 1st total)
Actual shipping cost on my USPS receipt $4.10
so this transaction's total deposit including the shipping to ship the package ... $9.07
total fees, including the sales tax etsy charged on my behalf then put fees on ... $1.69
MY RANT <----------- small time etsy has made it to the big leagues!
I DO BELIEVE MY CLOSING SALE HAS NOW SPED UP.
A SPECIAL CLOSING SALE DISCOUNT CODE WILL BE GIVEN TO EVERY BUYER THAT CONTACTS ME.
I still have to think of how to ..... or ..... What to do with all my handcrafted jewelry I sell in my other etsy shop marcenebt99.etsy.com
if you have any ideas please let me know.
I will be listing a lot of it on Poshmark.com
