Re: New to Etsy or Have a few pointers?

Hi, my name is Kathleen and I am new to selling on Etsy. I have been a shopper for many years. I am working on listing new designs for paper dolls. Right now I am focused on growing the number of designs I have. My goal is a new design every week for the next 2 months. I am also working on my Facebook networking, since I am there all the time anyway :)

What are everyone's "newbie" goals?

Re: New to Etsy or Have a few pointers?

I am a stay at home mo and I love to craft. I figured I might as well try to sell some of the things I like to make (you can only have so many crafts in your house before they become overwhelming). I have been open since January 1st and have not had one sale :( It is easy to be seen with the marketing tool Esty has offered, but it is rather hard to find your buyers.

@ Kathleen- I wish I would have waited until I had a lot more items to list before I opened. I may let my items expire, then once I have more items I will re-open.

Good Luck to both of you!

Thank you Kathleen! I am in the process of making all the animals right now. When I finish them all, I will be posting them at one time.

Re: New to Etsy or Have a few pointers?

Totally new to Etsy. Giving it a real try as my family always liked their gifts. Or they said so anyway! My goal is to use up a backlog of craft supplies and make a sale.

Also new to Etsy and hoping to get some more exposure, and maybe make a sale! But either way, I just enjoy crafting and creating and sharing it with people ♥

Re: New to Etsy or Have a few pointers?

I havent been able to leave the house for a while due to on going illness so i took up card making and i have only been a member on etsy 2 days. After doing research i have found that great photos showing the product are a must have! As a bad photo may influence the buyer perception of your item, listing on social networking sites is a big help too.. i dont post on networking sites myself due to me being slightly scared of what my friends might think (im only 16 going on 17) anyway also a good description helps too and a good range of pictures.. Hope that helps people, and any tips would be great :)

Re: New to Etsy or Have a few pointers?

@Jennifer- For being so young you do great work from what I can tell on your shop! You definitely are on the right foot at doing this so early. If I could suggest, perhaps you should open a business facebook page and use it for business only. In other words, keep your friends out of it. It may help in the long run with exposure and getting people to see your page.
I have had other "Etsians" and people whom I don't know like my page.

Re: New to Etsy or Have a few pointers?

I think some sellers are also buyers. But I think it's more about branching yourself out there.

Re: New to Etsy or Have a few pointers?

I don't know if anyone has tried Facebook's advertising, but I have found that it actually helps a bit. I put $5 towards it and got 5 likes on my Facebook page within the first 2 minutes. Made me happy :) since I had no likes before that lol. I have to learn more about how to attract my audience with relevancy though and I will probably get even more likes next time.

Re: New to Etsy or Have a few pointers?

For me I think expanding my shop inventory will be the biggest driver. I am 2 weeks in to my new shop, and I have 5 paper dolls up (7 listings). Two more every week for the month of February is the goal. Then I will need to start seeing some sales before I expand further.

I would love any feedback on my shop... thanks in advance!

Re: New to Etsy or Have a few pointers?

Hi All, I just opened my shop DistinguishableStuff. I'm a stay at home mom who enjoys crafting and making jewelry. Made a bunch of stuff for a craft fair that ended up not having many people come to it, so now would like to get rid of it. I love making earrings. Maybe , because I can't wear them, since my ears are highly sensitive and end up infected every time. Just feeling my way and trying to post one or 2 new things every day.

Re: New to Etsy or Have a few pointers?

Hi Everyone! I am new (for about a month) to etsy, I am a stay at home mom of four, after being in the corporate world for 17 years! I love working with glass and beads, so I have been putting all my items up into my shop.

I am hoping to learn and get some great pointers from everyone and grow as a team!
