Being Smart about Shop Sections

I just posted this thread in the Business Topics

http://www.etsy.com/teams/7722/business-topics/discuss/7617354/page/1/

But then I thought - wait, maybe the fresh team will have some thoughts on organizing shop sections. Specifically, I was wondering if anyone has success by incorporating a Shop Section called "NEW Items" or "Fresh Items" to their shop?

Any dialogue on your organization of Shop Sections is of course, welcome!

Re: Being Smart about Shop Sections

I would be curious to hear about this as well. I have a few shop categories, but not a lot. I have been considering adding more..

Hi AvolieGlass!

I took a look at your shop and it is lovely. I would imagine that you could group your items in at least 2 other ways:

-Vases
-Bowls
-Pumpkins
-Other

Or even by Color series
-Red
-Woodland Series
-Yellow

Keeping the "gifts under 100" is a nice touch in your shop.
I hope that gives you a few ideas!

Re: Being Smart about Shop Sections

Beaumont I think your shop and sections look great!
I tend to put links to my other sections in each listing (at the bottom)

If it is a Wire Bracelet- then I link to "Other Wire Bracelets"
"Coordinating Rings" "Coordinating Necklaces" etc.

Some people will click around- and others will still convo:)

Re: Being Smart about Shop Sections

I've been thinking about removing my painting section from my shop and opening another shop just for fine art. On the other hand all of the different sections I have in my shop reflect who I am as an artist. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

lapisbeach. . . .Well, actually what you see now was recently overhauled. I am going to stick with it like this for a couple weeks and see if I feel it's working out well.
I was just talking about using the linking system with an etsy friend the other day. . . As an etsy shopper, I personally don't tend to click on links within the information section that go to other parts of the shop. I guess more linking just creates a network and is worth a try though!
Thanks!

Carolynn. . . . I am chuckling to myself over your dilemma. Not because it is funny, but because I have visited your shop before and thought to myself - "normally i don't like mixed media shops, but somehow it is working for this shop!"
That's my opinion- in your case your paintings say something about your bags and vice versa. I feel cohesive artistic statement from those visuals.
. . . my opinion. . .anyone else?

:-)

Re: Being Smart about Shop Sections

Really!! Thanks so much. You've given me the boost of confidence I need right about now. I may be over thinking things because sales are slow. All of the things in my shop really do speak to the artist I've always been. Even as a child I loved painting, design, and sewing...if that hasn't changed after all these years...I guess it never will.

I've never used the linking system...maybe it is something to think about.

Now I'm off to put dinner on the table...homemade Eggplant Parmesan. I also made a chocolate meringue pie for dessert. If anyone wants a great recipe for chocolate pie I will gladly share it.
