Re: Say hello!

Hi there! Thanks for the invite! I find my freeform pieces most rewarding, particularly my freeform beadweavings. Here's my favorite one that I have listed. http://www.etsy.com/listing/54854004/dream-weaver-freeform-beadweaving-cuff

Here's a favorite I found recently that I find pure genius!
http://www.etsy.com/listing/70027542/the-urban-lace-crocheted-lace-cuff

I live in Columbus, Ohio and making art has been my favorite thing ever since I was a little kid! But after I started teaching elementary school art I started to switch my focus to jewelry because I could work on it in short spurts (unlike painting). I've just started selling in art fairs this past year, but have been selling privately before then. I'm enjoying finding out what people's favorites are (and I'm pretty good at guessing by looking at them).

I can be found on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/aimeerejewelry and I'd love to add the team members to my favorites!

Looking forward to seeing other people's favorites! -Aimee Re

Re: Say hello!

Hello!

I have sent out an invite to DAINTYCROCHETBYALY too. I would love to do some bead work. I recently bought a couple of beading needles to add seed beads to my crochet but haven't yet started a beaded only piece.
The next thing on my list is to learn to do tatting. I bought a tatting shuttle a short while ago but i just end up with loads of knots and not the good knots that normally make up tatting. I agree with jewellery being easier. Painting does take a lot of work and concentration, where as i find crafts a lot more relaxing, especially when I do free form stuff because I can watch TV at the same time and switch my brain off!

Re: Say hello!

Hi I'm Leslie (aka Woolmountain and I'm for Jersey (as in New Jersey, USA, a die hard and "older" jersey girl. I've have been crocheting and knitting since I was 5 (thanks to both of my grandmothers, one taught me crochet and the other who wouldn't be outdone by the other grandma, taught me knitting). and been doing my own thing (now known as freeform) since the 1970's. I also spin some of my own yarns when time allows.
My favorite item I own is a freeform beret made by Prudence Mapstone from scrumbles sent to her from fiber artists all over the globe for the Pink Project Auction, I won the bid on the beret; and by the way, Prudence is my "Rock Star", I have learned so much from her over the years, a most talented lady.

My website, and blog:

http://woolmountainstudio.com/

http://woolmountainstudio.blogspot.com/

I recommend:

http://www.freeformcrochet.com/

and google the following names: Prudence Mapstone, James Walters and Sylvia Cosh, Margaret Hubert, Myra Wood, Bonnie Pierce, Renate Fitzpatrick, Jenny Dowd....and when you visit there sights, you will find other names of great FF artists.

Yes I do craft fairs and fiber art fairs, and I talk/type to much.....lol.

Leslie

Re: Say hello!

Hi everyone

I love that bead work Ibics. Beading is something i really want to have a go at next but i have to add it to the list that I already have of things I want to try (its getting longer by the day as I love getting into everything!)

I'm fairly new to this free forming. I have knitted since I was about nine or ten and crocheted. My mum taught me but I was never able to follow a pattern and always seemed to go off on a tangent after about half an hour. I always saw this as not being able to concentrate but i always found what I made from these pieces was much more interesting than the original thing. I stopped crocheting for quite a long time after that, picking it up in my late teens and then only starting again after I started maternity leave last September, and to pardon a pun, I am now HOOKED!
It's great that i can now recognise my odd pieces of crochet as a type of craft rather than just a lack of concentration and not wanting to follow a pattern!!!!!
I am currently working on a fun pink crochet and bead cuff. I started it a few nights ago and hope to have it finished by the end of the weekend. t
The first few pieces I made were quite plain pieces (see my etsy shop), but I am now really getting a taste for a variety of different textures and beads.

Oh and my name is Emma, I am 29 and married and have a six month old daughter, Eleanor. We live in the South East of England. I am due back to work in three weeks after my maternity leave ends but hope to use the free time I have in the evenings to keep up with the crochet and hopefully keep chatting in here.

Re: Say hello!

Hello to all you amazing crafters,

My name is Grace and I live in San Diego, California. I have always been into crafts ever since I has a kid. I remember vividly digging up clay in my backyard where I was born and made them into mini pottery. My favorite items I own are my earrings! I am new to etsy and just starting my collection of crafts, so I hope in the future craft fairs and such ♥

Re: Say hello!

Hello, everyone!

My name is Kate. I am from Little Rock, Arkansas but I am about to move to St. Louis, Missouri. I have been creating art of all genres since I have been capable of fine motor movement. I love photography and painting the most. I have always been a pretty passionate person with the things in my life that I love and that are important to me. Art has been an outlet to my passion--a way to express my emotions, as well as a way to interpret and illustrate my wild imagination! My favorite item that I own is a GIANT replica of Klimt's "Tree of Life." I love trees, swirlies, and surrealism. My favorite item that I created is a giant charcoal drawing of myself with a photo collage attached---it is dedicated to one of my close friend who committed suicide a few years ago--it is an interpretation of the depression I suffered after having lost not only a close friend, but also someone who suffered through the emotional turmoil of depression, like I do.

I have not participated in craft fairs, but I would like to!

I am also new to Etsy. Any advice? :)

I'm excited to be a part of this group! I love freeform!

Kate
