What happened to our long long thread?

Re: What happened?

my shoulder is a little better. my doc gave me the OK to take 3 naproxen daily, as long as it doesn't hurt my stomach. that helps a lot with the arthritis in my hands. my doc also gave me a toradol injection which was supposed to help with inflammation, but it's been a couple of weeks and i don't think it's made much of a difference. i can handle a low level of pain, but the pain from the bone spur in my thumb is more than i'm willing to live with. i'll ask my doc what my options are.

after a long dry spell, we're supposed to get some rain this weekend from a pineapple express coming up from hawaii. it never seems like a real winter when it's relentlessly sunny and mild, so i welcome the rain (within reason, of course!) and the cooler temperatures.

Re: What happened?

Glad that your shoulder seems a little better. I do hope the doctor can do something about the bone spur though.  That constant pain is not good.

Hope you get a little rain.  Just a little at a time and not too much at once!

Happy Friday!

Re: What happened?

we are having another atmospheric river here. most of the rain is to the north of us, and high winds too, but we got some decent rain out of it. all the hillsides are beautifully green, and some of the fruit trees are popping into bloom already. (which means i'll start sneezing soon!)

some new stuff on my blog: another cloud time-lapse, scenes from alamitos creek, and a couple of arty videos.

Re: What happened?

Uh oh, with the sneezing.  LOL   I love to see all the blooms, but I agree, with that comes the sneezing.  The wind has been crazy a lot this year it seems.

Re: What happened?

a wind advisory has been issued for today, with gusts up to 50 mph expected even at lower elevations, not just in mountain passes. the wind has picked up since this morning, at 25 mph currently. overcast but no rain yet.

in my apartment building we supposedly have secure parking, but in spite of the security gate someone had their car stolen a couple of days ago. security cameras in the lower level recorded 4 guys wearing masks stealing a new suv from its parking space at 6 AM. no word on how the guys got into the garage in the first place, but it’s not difficult at all to do if you’re patient and determined. makes me glad my car is older and has a few dings on it, which i assume makes it less attractive to thieves.

Re: What happened?

Yes, it is very windy here today too.  I am over it.

Oh, wow, that is crazy that they stole a car out of your secure parking garage.  So crazy.  I guess if they are determined they will get to it.  Yikes though.

Happy Friday!

Re: What happened?

i've been quite tired this past week.  the winter weather makes me want to hibernate, too. another storm is headed our way, a "showstopper," according to a local newspaper headline. i guess "atmospheric river" wasn't attention-grabbing enough? it was chilly enough last night that some rain showers turned to snow on the local mountaintops (4500'). it's melting during the day, though, but it makes it hard for the people who work at the astronomical observatory on top of mt hamilton to get to work. it takes a looong time for a snow plow to make it all the way to the summit, on a narrow road with over 300 hairpin turns and no guardrail.

Re: What happened?

Wow, that sounds scary to drive up that road.  Especially with snow and wind coming at you.   A definite white knuckle experience.   Hopefully, you don't get too much rain at once.    That could be very devastating.

Re: What happened?

clear skies now, for a few days. local headlines mentioned torrential rains and flooding in certain areas, but my town was spared. the sierras got 6 feet of snow in 36 hours, though, and an avalanche closed a major ski resort up in the mountains. two ski patrollers were injured in the slide but are recovering.

a couple of weeks ago i applied to enter my arty videos in my town's annual exhibit at the performing arts center. they do consider video art along with paintings, prints and photographs. i found out i was not chosen as a finalist, though. i knew it was a long shot, and it was a bit thrilling to enter and have the people on the selection committee see my work, but i never thought i'd be a shoo-in.

i've been invited to enter their next exhibit and am on their email list for notifications, so i might wind up being chosen in the future.

Re: What happened?

That is alot of snow is a short amount of time.  But the snow pack is always welcome.

That does sound exciting to have the selection committee see your work.  I am sorry you weren't a finalist, but hopefully, they will pick something in the future.  It is always nice to see other art too.
