What happened to our long long thread?

Re: What happened?

it's gotten chilly enough overnight that we have to put the heat on first thing in the morning. i love warm autumn days, but i love cool autumn days too!  have i mentioned how glad i am that those awful summer heat waves are over? lol!

dh and i spent yesterday afternoon at another part of our favorite local creek. it was so quiet and peaceful there, with the sound of the creek rushing over rocks, little fish in the water, crows cawing in the trees overhead. i should have some video ready in about a week. in the meantime, last week's creek visit video is up on my blog, plus and arty video and video of one of the brand-new electric caltrains. https://pahavit.livejournal.com/

Re: What happened?

I agree with you that I am so glad the summer heat is over for now.

Sitting at the creek sounds so peaceful.  Can't wait for the video!

Re: What happened?

i've been under the weather for the past several days. i had a flare-up of inflammation, which set off a big arthritis flare in my neck. i can barely turn my head to either side. and i also have a small bleeding ulcer. my stomach will probably be ok if i stay away from foods that irritate it for a while, but i may have to go to the doctor for my neck if it doesn't resolve soon.

Oh, gosh that doesn't sound good.  I hope your neck starts to get better soon!!

Re: What happened?

my neck is finally starting to improve, thankfully. a little extra naproxen is helping. these inflammatory flare-ups i get sometimes seems to start up very suddenly then take several days to subside. last year i had a sudden arthritic flare-up in my shoulder that took 4 months to fully fade away. that was an unusually long flare, though.

we're having lovely autumn weather here -- beautiful mild sunny days filled with golden light.  i wish the rains would start, though. we're currently under a severe red flag warning through tomorrow morning, with extreme wind gusts expected and critically dry conditions. the power company may need to shut off electricity in communities along nearby mountain ridge-tops where the gusts are expected to be the highest.

Re: What happened?

I am glad that your neck is starting to improve.  4 months is a really long time for a flare up.   I have been having some pain in my neck too, but I think it is stress related from work.  I need to get up and walk around more rather than just sitting at my desk for long periods of time.   I need to train myself to do that more.

Re: What happened?

getting a break from sitting at a desk is a good thing! a short walk to stimulate blood flow, also getting a couple of breaths of fresh air outside can give a bit of a lift.

when i worked at the bank, i often would develop a slight headache in the office that would disappear within a couple of minutes after i went outside for my break. once i got back inside the office i'd start feeling a little brain-foggy and the slight headache would come back after 20 or 30 minutes. that was one of the many things i hated about working at the bank!

it was an old building in downtown san francisco, built in the very early 1900s, so while the ventilation system probably wasn't original anymore by the time i worked there, it probably wasn't state-of-the-art either, and who knows what kind of minute particles and spores it was blowing on us all day long. i am so glad i don't work there anymore!

Re: What happened?

I totally agree, have to get up and move around.   I bet the old building was cool though.  I love old buildings, but yes, they are full of who knows what I am sure.  LOL

Re: What happened?

that old building has been converted into condos now, with all-new interiors and i'm sure brand-new hvac systems. it's a weird part of the city to have condos, though, in the financial district. there's very little else around except for lunchtime places and other office buildings.  the nearest grocery store is 6 very long blocks away.

it rained today! not for very long, but it was still actual rain. we're supposed to have cool, unsettled weather all week, so maybe more rain in a few days.

Re: What happened?

That does seem like an odd place to convert an old building into condos.

Yay for the rain!!! Even if it was just a little.

we've had a few more sprinkles of rain too, with lots of puffy clouds sailing through the sky. i've been getting some nice time-lapse videos of them. once i find some good music for them they'll be up on my blog and my youtube channel.

Re: What happened?

we're bracing for a bomb cyclone here in my part of california. we had a little light rain today, but primarily it was heavy winds and strong gusts all day long. friday is when we can expect the most rain. some places might get a month's worth of rain from just this storm system. i like rainy days, but not flooding, mudslides, downed trees and road closures!

Oh, Wow, that sounds like it could be devastating.  I hope it isn't as bad as predicted.  (fingers crossed)

Re: What happened?

thanks inky! thankfully, we just got 1/4" of rainfall in my city.  but north of here got absolutely hammered with torrential rain, flooded streets, fallen trees, mudslides, etc. i'm glad it was just a regular rainy autumn day for me. more rain is in store for monday and tuesday, but forecasters aren't sure how bad it will be. they seem to keep changing the forecast several times a day as they update their predictions, so it's anyone's guess. but the likelihood of another bomb cyclone is pretty low, thankfully.

Re: What happened?

the cranberry salsa was pretty good! it needed a touch more salt than the recipe called for, and next time i'll omit the lime zest. dh's lasagna was delicious.

it's been quite chilly here, with freeze warnings for overnight. in spite of the bright sunshine i feel like curling up and hibernating. weather experts are saying that california can expect a dry december, so i guess there won't be much rain to look forward to for a while.

Re: What happened?

I am glad the salsa and the lasagna turned out good.

Yes, the chilly weather does make a person want to just hibernate.   Hopefully, you can get some rain, just not torrential downpours!!

Re: What happened?

rain is on the way -- supposedly. probably on the weekend. but maybe not as far south as i am. it's hard to say. so i'm not counting on it. it will be chilly, though.

somehow i managed to get pink eye. i have no idea how! i haven't been around anyone who's been sick, dh is fine, yet my left eye is red and feeling gritty. it's not too bad, though, thankfully. it's just a minor annoyance.

i've reached 200 subscribers on my youtube channel! woot! and oddly, so far there have been 2 comments in russian on a couple of my videos. i had no idea i had fans in russia!  i had to use google translate to understand what they said, lol. at least they had nice thing to say.

Re: What happened?

Oh, that is a bummer about your pink eye. I used to get it all the time when I was a kid.  Knock on wood, I haven't had it in years.  Hope it clears up soon for you.

Congratulations on the youtube milestone.  Of course they had nice things to say.
