the laundry rooms in my building have been closed for the past 2 days due to, according to the notice on the door, an "unplanned leak." um, aren't all leaks unplanned? who schedules a leak to happen??
it took them 3 days, and they left a huge mess. they had to tear out the wall in the laundry room to access the pipes, and there was sheetrock debris all over the place, including the hallway. the trash room had a lot of sheetrock debris in it too, and the door to the trash chute got broken (a flange on the side got bent and it was stuck open).
UNplanned, LOL. Is it fixed yet? Ever since children, if I don't wash at least 2 loads of clothes a day, I'm behind. These days, since our "COVID" clothes are left in the laundry room, we have both home clothes and COVID clothes that I wash separately. Yeah, I'm a nut.....but I rinse out the COVID and then wash. So, ever since March, I'm ALWAYS behind in washing. Losing access to a machine for days at a time would be catastrophic around here, LOL.
i think it was a combination of a semi-major leak and less than fully competent repairmen that were in over their heads. at least it's fixed (so far; i hope it still is, because we need to do more laundry in a couple of days).
the management company's repair people don't seem very good in general. a few months ago they came out twice to our apartment for a clogged drain and an outside plumbing company had be brought in because management's guys couldn't fix it right themselves the first 2 times.
