What happened to our long long thread?
Oh gosh. So much going on. More fires. I heard the latest one was caused by a gender reveal situation. I mean, really? UGH!!!
that's true. that's the creek fire. i don't understand how those people had such poor judgment. first, using a pyrotechnic device during high fire danger conditions, and second, having a social gathering during a pandemic!
the last i heard, the DA was considering whether or not to file charges. i don't even know why it's a question in the first place. and i wonder how many civil suits fire victims will be filing in the coming months.
the skies here today were obscured by a thick yellow-gray haze. i couldn't see the mountains at all, and the sun was a weak yellow blob that couldn't even cast a faint shadow.
at least it was only in the 80s today, instead of the 100s like it was the past couple of days.

there is also this one:
Poor judgement all the way around. I think they should be held accountable for their actions. Why should the taxpayers keep bailing out the people who can't make good decisions?
LOL to the funnies. Those are good. haha
Love the lady bug butt.
Good that the temps are down. Now, just need the air to clear up!
the skies were apocalyptic here today! the pics in the article are utterly eerie!

it never lightened up here at all -- it was as dark as dusk all day long. not even the gloomiest winter day has ever been as dark as today was. cars had their headlights on all day long. streetlights were on all day long. i had to keep the lights on in the apartment all day too. spooky!
Wow, some of those pictures are really cool, but, yes, very spooky at the same time. WOW!!
Sierra, I saw the photos today and realized it had been forever since I've checked in.
We have some friends who are about 5 miles away from one of the Oregon fires. Scary.
How have ya'll been doing during this shutdown?
We've been fortunate in that both our girls (who still live at home because they want to help us out) still have jobs.
Lizzy is working from home, which is pretty easy to do as a web developer. But even she, the great introvert, really
wants to go back into work.
RJ works from home 3 days a week, in the workplace 2 days a week. At home she's doing mind-numbing close files and scan work. but it does need to be done, because the firm may be moving to a smaller location around the first of the year.
Hubby didn't have any work for most of the year, but he has picked up some work the last couple of months.
We did a stay-cation this year. (Better than last year, when we did no vacation at all.) We went to 6 wineries for tastings ~ not all at once, of course. We went to three in Charlottesville, which is about an hour away. It was a pleasant day trip. We also found a couple of decent miniature golf places about an hour from here. (The 2 near us are really lame.) And we watched lots of feel-good movies and played games. it was actually a pretty relaxing week.
*waves to sunshine*
i hope your friends in oregon stay safe!
glad your girls' jobs are still going and that your hubby picked up some work.
watching feel-good movies sounds like the best thing to be doing these days! i've been binge-watching a lot of sitcoms on hulu (frasier, wings, perfect strangers, brooklyn nine-nine, etc), because i need stuff that can make me laugh.

here is another terrifying photo -- an 8-mile-high pyrocumulonimbus cloud above the creek fire (the one caused by the gender-reveal party), shot from the window of a passenger jet.
oh, also, i baked my first-ever loaf of bread today. it came out really well!
Sunshine, so good to see you. We have to make the best of these times and it certainly seems like you and the family are doing that!! XXXX
Wow, Sierra, that picture looks like nuclear bomb photo. Amazing.
Yay for your bread. What type did you make? I absolutely love bread!!!
And watching feel good shows/movies. I really need things to make me laugh these days!!
i made a loaf of sandwich bread, nothing fancy, just unbleached flour, yeast, water and salt. i'm going to make another loaf later on this week.
our orange skies are gone, thank goodness, but visibility is still poor due to excessive ash in the air. they think maybe on tuesday the air quality will improve. until then, i'm staying indoors!

Good news about the air. I was reading an article yesterday about how the smoke has made its way clear to the East USA. So crazy.
Good morning. Hope you all have a great day!! XXX
i heard the smoke is reaching europe! yikes! of course it isn't as thick anymore, but still, it's traveled that far.
i've heard that the smoke is really bad in the portland area. they're still having red skies up there. we had a little drizzle a couple of days ago that helped clear the air a lot down here. a good soaking rain would be nice, but we can't expect that for another couple of months.
