wow, the local police have asked the public to inform them not only of non-essential business (such as nail salons and book stores) violating the order to close down, but they are also asking to be informed of social distancing violations! they aren't going to arrest anyone, but they do want people to take it seriously.
i've been holed up in my apartment, hoping my city will quickly implement the relief package they promised for tenants who will have trouble paying their rent next month. we are going to have to apply, because we're going to need the help! also, dh is looking into a SBA low-interest economic disaster relief loan.
This is affecting so many people. My brother and son both got laid off of their jobs in the past few days. I don't know how people are going to get through all of this without some help with rent and stuff. It is mind boggling the amount of people that are out of work right now.

We are doing fine. Hubby was laid off over a year ago and he does a little consulting work along with getting his social security. Things have been tight for us for a year, so this is nothing new. Both girls are working from home; they are fortunate to be able to do so.

dh applied for the SBA disaster assistance loan. we're not happy it's a loan, but at least it's low interest, and it's the only real relief being officially offered now for self-employed people. a lot of other programs i've looked into require a note from an employer, which dh can't provide since he's self-employed.
today i contacted my congressperson, both my senators, and my state assemblymember about this, and tomorrow i'm going to contact my state senator and my county supervisor. it's so time-consuming and emotionally draining, and there is so much conflicting and confusing information out there.

dh did has last photoshoot for the foreseeable future today. he's just finished moving into his new photo studio too. and now he has to shut down for who knows how long.
i fully expect them to extend our shelter in place orders for longer any day now. two of my doctors have asked to reschedule appointments with me (one is trying to set up a video appointment instead of having me come in in person).
all the big tech companies in town have empty parking lots. the freeways are almost deserted, even during rush hour. it's uncanny.
It appears that we did lose Rhody. I hope she returns!!
It is very eerie to see empty roads and places. So strange. I am so sorry about dh not having business for now and that you will have to postpone your appointments. So much uncertainty going on right now. I feel like our lives are on hold and we are waiting for the next step. Not a good feeling.
the freeways are so empty now, the highway patrol says they have been issuing a lot more citations for speeding. i guess people think that with the roads so lightly traveled it doesn't matter if they goo 100 mph.
dh is finishing moving into his new photo studio. the rent was going to go up on his old place in may, and the new studio rent is less than the original old rent (and it includes a dedicated parking space for clients to boot). but dh is exhausted from packing, cleaning and moving. his old landlord said he can send his deposit back to him right away after the move-out walk-through, and we hope he means it because dh has no work at all and we need that deposit!
