Gorgeous photos. I love the one with the fog and the bridge. Gorgeous. I probably wash my hands ore than most people. I just feel like there is so many germs and I wash them numerous times during the day. Probably not a great thing but hopefully I don’t get sick. Hand sanitizer is handy though
glad you liked the pics, inky! dh and i enjoyed our visit a lot. we get up to san francisco once a month or so. i kinda miss living there, but i don't miss the cold foggy weather!
hand sanitizer is good for wiping down surfaces you have to touch during the day (especially computer keyboards). washing hands and cleaning surfaces are much more effective than wearing a mask, because it can be easy to get the wrong kind (it needs to filter out small droplets, not just particulate matter) and it has to be fitted properly in order to be effective.
to be most effective, though, you'd need a full-face shield, to keep aerosolized droplets from sneezes or coughs out of your eyes -- eyeglasses are not enough protection. being within 6 feet of a sick person puts you in range of their coughs and sneezes.
good for you for frequent hand-washing! that's really the best thing you can do to keep from catching a cold or flu.

Sierra, sorry to hear about the new building that will block you view.
We had a nice holiday season, we ALMOST got through it in a low-key way. That is, until RJ reluctantly agreed to join the hand bell choir after all. At first she said she wasn't doing it this year (practice started in October.) But at the end of Nov her old college instructor/mentor who runs the group called and asked her to step in to help, and she relented. She was afraid to jump in so late with no practice, but it went well. She was with them for 4 events in Dec.
The girls had lots of time off ~ Lizzy now works at her alma mater (University of Richmond) and gets two weeks at Christmas in addition to her 14 PTO days. And RJ has moved from the real estate section to the litigation section at the legal firm, so things were much calmer at work for her during December. She was able to take off during Dec, something she could not do while in the real estate section.
Lizzy is enjoying her work as a web developer and is also doing some contract work (it just seems to fall in her lap, she is not actively seeking it out.) She fixes web sites, makes changes, and even set up a new site for a dancer/teacher at UR.
Hubby is doing some contract work. He had a fair amt in 2018, not so much in 2019. There is hope of a little work in the next couple of months. I keep teasing him that he needs to apply to do some census work....so far he has ignored me.....

at the construction site next door, not only did they leave the lights on in the construction office, but they also left one of the gates wide open. let's see how much graffiti shows up tomorrow!
no, the lights in the construction site office don't shine in my window, thank goodness! they remembered to turn them off last night, and no new graffiti (the old graffiti got painted over).
this thread used to make me log in every time i came back here, until 2 days ago, when i was automatically logged in. i didn't change any settings in my browser.
when i tried to post above, it gave me the old "authentication failed" error message it was giving me in the early days of the "new" forums here. i had to refresh the page but i lost the post and had to rewrite it.
i wish etsy could get it right. tens of thousands of other web sites with forums around the world get it right, so why can't etsy? how hard could it be? sigh.
dh and i both have colds. his is really bad. i can't help but wonder if he has a mild case of coronavirus (officially known as COVID-19). there are 2 known cases of it in my county. he said he probably caught whatever it is he has from someone who had just flown in from new york he met with on monday. i don't think there have been any reported cases in new york so far, though.
in an odd way i hope he does have a mild case of it, because that means he can't get sick with it again if he comes in contact with anyone else with it, and thus avoid having an even worse case of it.
of course i might catch something from him, but i'm making him wash his hands every day as soon as he walks in the door from work.
my own cold isn't that bad, but i've been taking one gram of vitamin c every hour or 2 and that helps alleviated a lot of the symptoms.
