we just found out that there has been a loose piece of fiberglass insulation in the vents in our apartment that has been blowing fibers into the rooms every time the fan has been on (which is several times a day), ever since we moved in in july.
dh is going to call the building management, and i sent a message to my doctor asking if i need to come in and be seen. ugh.
there are still 2 small buildings left of the abandoned storage facility still standing. i don't know why they haven't been torn down yet, but there were a couple of guys from an electrical company there today removing office furniture from the office. what office furniture has to do with electrical installation, i don't know (but i think i do know enough to know when construction workers are goofing around instead of working when i see it).
dh is kind of sad now, because his daughter in montana got divorced recently and was all but homeless for a while (she has 3 young kids). she hasn't even filed for child support. he told me she said she thinks it would be "bad karma."
she's been struggling doing a food delivery gig-type job and barely getting by. she's gotten a couple of tickets and had an expensive car repair bill that ate up all her extra cash, and now she can't pay her rent or her internet bill. apparently she didn't even try to apply for any entitlements, programs or services she might be eligible for. with 3 small kids i can't understand why she isn't rushing to sign up for every single benefit she can get.
dh is trying to talk some sense into her from 1200 miles away, and she hasn't been entirely receptive to his advice. i know if she could just avail herself of the services in her local community, her life could turn around very quickly, but she hasn't felt motivated to do that so far. it's very frustrating for us both, but especially dh.
OH, that is sad news. I would think she would try to use all the resources she can too and not to file for child support? That is definitely NOT bad karma. She deserves some help with those kids. I will send some good thoughts and vibes her way and hope that things turn around. XXXX
thanks, inky. today i mailed off a box of crocheted toys for the kids and a knit scarf for her, so at least they'll have that for the holidays.
i don't understand the bad karma thing. it's bad karma for their dad *not* to pay child support. it's good karma for her to receive child support so she can care for her kids better. i'm not sure where she got such a strange idea. dh is doing everything he can to help her see things more clearly.
glad you like the photos, inky. that bright yellow trolley with the wreath on it was really cute. it also had holiday lights strung up inside it, but they don't really show up in the pic.
they were flashing in different patterns; i tried to capture the more interesting sequence. i deleted a lot of footage that just wasn't that interesting!
