mad me

so... i bought this feather hair clip a long time ago but never used it, mostly cause my hair was short.

today i went to use it for the first time and the feathers came off as soon as i clipped it down. i look to see that it is held on with hot glue.

a while back i also bought some bobbies from someone. spent 15 dollars plus shipping which was high but i had a job then. i took them out of the package and immediately the pieces fell off.

also glued on with crappy glue.

i now refuse to buy anything that looks glued to anything. ever.

do people not test these things for strength and durability?

it has been months so i really dont want to convo the seller but really...

Re: mad me

aww, that sucks. I'm sorry. Can you re-glue it yourself?

Re: mad me

I would tell them, but emphasize that you realize it is far too late for a refund, but you thought they should know.

Re: mad me

They probably know... Hot Glue gun is nooooot fun. That's why, when I make my own bows, I use e6000 (takes forever to hold into place, but it's the only thing that works, LOL) Poopie

Re: mad me

e6000 is the strongest glue, it's what I use. It does smell horrible, but once it dries there isn't anymore stink.

I would be surprised that someone would use hot glue on the bobby pins, since those are very much affected by weather hot/cold and anything with hot glue will fall apart at that point.

Re: mad me

I use e6000 for my bails even though the epoxy I use says it's not necessary that you can use it to adhere bails. The trick with e6000 is it's slightly flexible after drying, so it's less likely to get brittle and crack apart like lots of other glues.

Re: mad me

Jenifer - it's an industrial glue, comes in a silver tube typically. You can get it at craft stores and hardware stores.

Re: mad me

I would glue it outside. It might only take a minute and you can leave it outside for a bit to air out.
