Where do your shop views come from?

Mine are mostly from etsy..but I only average (I added up and averaged the last 29 days...) is only 5.4 shop views per day. (while everyone else in the main forums are complaining that they aren't doing as well these days on etsy, I'm doing better than ever--as in, I've never had much traffic or sales.)
I know I should list more frequently...so other than that...what can I do to get more traffic? help?

Re: Where do your shop views come from?

Why don't you list your postcards under the paper goods section instead of art?

Paper Goods > Cards > Postcards

Not that they aren't art, but it might open you up to different shoppers that don't go into the art category. :)

Tweeting helped me alot. I just tweet an item or two every day. Also I am at a conference (for my hubby's biz) Passed out a ton of cards to friends who were interested and got lots of Direct traffic views.

Re: Where do your shop views come from?

you need to take a look at your titles and tags. put something searchable up front. no one is searching for "dappled pink horse" they are searching for "original acrylic painting, dappled pink horse, 16x20 painting in shades of purple, blue, black." squeeze some more info in there, and make the first three words really count.

make your shop title (under your shop name) count, too, by saying "original fine art paintings by morian" rather than just "art by morian." details everywhere! :)

if people can't find you they can't buy from you!

Re: Where do your shop views come from?

Also, make sure you are using ALL of your available tags. I'm seeing some listings with only about 10 filled in. I know it's hard to think of stuff sometimes, but try to think outside the box!

Like this one:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/68178877/mr-tuxedo

You could use
cat painting
kitten painting
original painting
tuxedo cat
pet portrait
etc.

Your titles help with your search results as well. I know that you want to title your paintings, but try scooching the name back and adding tags to the beginning of your title. Like, for the one above, instead of just titling it 'Mr Tuxedo", title it "Tuxedo Cat Original Acrylic Painting - Mr Tuxedo"

I hope this helps. :)

Also, I love your Siamese cat portrait. I have a soft spot in my heart for Siamese. <3

mine are coming 75% etsy; 25% google. Things are picking up. No orders but lots of views, circles, and favorites.

Re: Where do your shop views come from?

Sorry for the takeover, but might I ask what your top keywords are?

Re: Where do your shop views come from?

No, the OP. They should use their most popular keywords more often. Works for you too, actually, I guess. :P

Re: Where do your shop views come from?

Thank you SOO much guys...I'm going through and tweaking my tags/moving postcards into the papergoods catagory right now. Jordan, my top 5 keywords are "sasquach", "bigfoot", "blank search" (whatever that means) "chocolate lab" (I just posted the chocolate lab painting in the relevancy game earlier so that's probably why that's so high...) and "pet"

Re: Where do your shop views come from?

yeah, your stuff is super cute! try "pet painting" or "animal painting" or "original animal art" for tags. that sort of stuff should be your top keywords. the peeps who are finding you now are stumbling on your shop almost by accident.

keep working on those tags and titles! we'll get you relevant! your stuff is too adorable. :)

I agree. I would have guessed your top keyword would have been pet painting or something like that. Give us a followup in a few days, I'm curious how much it will help... if you're only averaging 5 views a day right now. :)

Re: Where do your shop views come from?

well I think it must already be helping a little because I've had a few more views since changing some tags...
So I use a lot of color-related tags hoping that might help in getting in to treasuries, but I guess I should take some of those out and make room for more relevancy related ones.

Re: Where do your shop views come from?

Your art is beautiful but the titles leave something to be desired.
Something like
http://www.etsy.com/listing/75604627/blue-and-gold-macaw
should be titled 'original acrylic painting, blue and gold macaw' and have tags such as
original painting
acrylic painting
macaw painting
blue and gold painting
parrot painting

In any listing, the key phrases in the title should be repeated in the tags.

One easy way to come up with a title is to write one sentence that describes the piece to someone who cannot see it.

Re: Where do your shop views come from?

and don't forget more general tags like "tropical painting" or "colorful painting".

Re: Where do your shop views come from?

Mine usually come from teams here on Etsy. VERY rarely do I get a visited from google or some other site. Today I was super excited to see a visit from freeshippingday.com , there is a link there because I'm signed up. But then I realized that it was me coming into my shop from that site, I was trying it out. Oh well, hopefully I'll get a real visitor from there soon...
