The advantage of not selling

Thanks to my August lull (11 days and counting!), I am actually able to build up inventory in my shop.

I can see the silver lining on every cloud.

LOL, I was thinking the same! I have only one sale for this month and it was last Thursday... I'm at 170 items in my shop and at this rate, I will have 200 in no time!

I want to build inventory for the Holidays.

Of course the downside is that I can't treat myself to sone things I wiukd love to have.

I use my summer lull to build up stock, redo photos & most importantly-spend time with the kids. The other 10 months of the year are so crazy we all look forward to the slow summer downtime.

yes indeed! a slow summer has been my opportunity to work on photos, tags, titles, pricing and new creations!! now I am working on finishing up some projects :-) I think i'm almost ready for the cold weather to come!! almost....

Yes, for me a slow summer was necessary; having five boys at home has been wonderful; but the early part of the summer we were stuck at home while I worked on finishing custom orders; this last bit has been nice; I've been taking them on adventures, swimming, to lunch; it's been a very memorable time. The downside to school starting is that I'm going to be crazy busy with school schedules; I'm faintly alarmed; not sure how I'm going to do it all.

Buzz, I hate school schedules! We started yesterday and it has been crazy and I spent more hours in the car than I care to remember... Today looks about the same. Thank God It is friday!!!

@BuzzPlanet - I feel your pain with school schedule. I have a daughter that's doing hs volleyball in the fall, then club volleyball in the spring, boys who are doing basketball in the winter AND i am crazy enough to take some college classes. I only have three - I couldn't imagine you with five boys. You & my sis need to start a support group :-) except she has four boys & one girls - either way you two are way out numbered, lol!!

I know! I have three boys in two different schools; which means I have to drive to one school three times a day, five days a week. My oldest is starting middle school; and even though he's riding the bus I still have to keep him on task. Then I still have two little ones at home; and a shop to run. Yikes!

I have one of each, both in middle school now! The school bus here is expensive, so I drive them back and forth, plus they have different schedules and multiple activities in the afternoons!

Wow - I only have one child and I find it hard to focus on work. I can't imagine five! I don't think I'll ever say, "I'm tired" again. I don't know how you guys do it. :)

Heed my warning. Even when children are grown, they still freaking drive you nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay......I love the chaos and noise, but sometimes!!!!!! ESPECIALLY BOYS! Out of 4 kids I have 2 and 2. My children are 13-22 and let me tell ya. The two GROWN BOYS still drive me ape sh#T!
I'm bummed about my drop in views and sales seem to have come to a halt. I only had 2 this month, BUT it HAS allowed me to make more and work on shop #2, so I'm grateful. Especially since I think the 2nd shop will be more lucrative. I hope.

I'm guilty of driving my mother a little nuts still (and I'm 23). She was here visiting last week, and I asked her to help me hang curtains.. what an ordeal! We were both wiped out after finishing! My walls are so weird. Anyway, I also had a hard time staying focused, so she kicked my butt in gear :) It looks a lot better than when she first arrived! So just remember your kids appreciate everything they do for you, even if they don't expressly tell you so :) It's true!

Anyway I don't know how you all do it.. I hope I'll be better at time management once I get really busy next week!

The happiest (although nerve-wracking) day of my life was when my daughter got her driver's license. Haven't seen her since. (Just kidding!)

rrizart - my mother was so afraid of car crashes she didn't let me and my brother (twin) get our license until we were 18! She decided she'd rather drive us around rather than "risk our lives", lol. I understand why, but I can't believe that she wanted to drive us around for another two years.

@rrizzart - my daughter has her temps & I have decided I can't teach her to drive. my nerves are too bad, lol. i'm leaving it all up to her dad.

@mylittleangelco - lol - we live in ohio & i promise you these folks act as if they have never seen or driven in snow - its flippin insane during the winter with these idiot drivers! I see my daughter going postal - she has my lack of patience!!

I haven't had a slow summer.... but thanks to this team I am building up with all the challenges.

I didnt see page 2...lol But enjoy them as they drive you nuts. One day they go off and start their own life. Even though you still hold them in your heart as your babies... they are grown and soon have babies of their own. *sniffle*

I dreamed last nite I was trying to catch them before they go on the bus for school to give them lunch money. LOL Woke up at 8 am and jumped out of bed...then realized they left their mama..... :( LOL

Hobby: I'm just an hour and a half from you in Cincinnati. You are dead on about the dang drivers here. They are awful!!! Awful!!! Rain and snow, might as well shut the whole city down.

When there is snow here they do shut the city down because they have nothing to combat it with. No salt, no trucks, nothing!! I was stuck at my sister's for a week last winter when we had an extremely rare blizzard and no one could get out. I assure you the drivers here do not know what to do with ice and snow and they crash on a dry sunny day. So with a 15 year old boy that is drooling over the thought of a license I get heart palpitations.

Years (and I mean years!) ago, I took my road test in a full-out Massachusetts blizzard. Back then , in a small town, you didn't go to the DMV, but the local Sheriff gave the test. When I woke up that morning and saw the snow blowing and piling up, I called and asked them if my road test had been cancelled. The answer: "No. Why?" I explained because we were in the middle of a blizzard! Their reply: "Well what state do you plan on driving in, dear?"

I passed. But the Sheriff didn't make me roll down the windows to show him the turning hand signals - he was too cold!

My 14-year old is counting the days until her 16th birthday when she can apply towards a permit... Hmm, after seeing the ways teenagers usually speed through, no thanks!
