Resin & Paper

How in the world do you manage to cover paper with resin, and not have the print from the other side showing through?

I'm trying to make lockets with pieces cut from a really old broken book (I think it's from 1932 or something), and the resin sets really nicely and looks good...except for the print from the reverse showing through, and the paper becoming transparent.

Any tips?

Re: Resin & Paper

Try to cover both sides of the paper in something before putting it in the resin... glue... like mod podge or heck even elmers would probably work.
It *should* seal it so that the resin can't touch it and soak it.

Re: Resin & Paper

I agree with Alter - and sometimes I find with my earrings made from newspaper (really thin!) that it helps to put a white or in my case, cream cardstock piece between the epoxy/resin and the print. That way it's "backed" with something and isn't just translucent (adding to the visual confusion). Also - I do mention in my listings where that happens that it's possible to see a "ghost image" from the other side (see listing below) in case the buyer is really picky.

It's so much fun and so cool to do stuff with resin, I was just NOT getting the hang of it LOL!
