Its good to be back!

As wonderful as vacations are, it is nice to be back in my own home with my own bed and all my kitties. And I come back to a few orders and a new page lay out for items which I like very much. We had a great time gem mining and found a mind blowing surprise in the form of 1900 carat rough Sapphire. We are having it cut and hope it yields a stone in the range of 400-450 carats. Unfortunately we won't know if it is of good quality or color until after it is cut, so fingers crossed that it turns out nice. So vacation is over and its back to work :-).

Welcome back Angela! I already told you how much I want to try that- it sounds SO cool. Can you imagine if your stone turns out to be A+ quality? How long does it take them? I would be dying!

Wow! Fingers crossed that the sapphire is a good one. Keep us posted, and we expect pictures too. ;)

It will be 4 to 6 weeks before we get it back. The gentleman who owns the mine and does the cutting said this would be the second largest sapphire he has ever cut. The first one took him a solid week of 5 hour days to cut but since he has other stones to cut for other customers he wouldn't be able to do this one as quickly. Our fingers are crossed that it turns out to be a good quality stone but we are trying not to get our hopes up too much. And yes the wait is going to seem like forever.

We did take some pictures of the rough stone but I haven't loaded them yet. I will keep you all posted and will post the pictures soon.
