I could use some advice...

Most of the items in my shop are easy to make and are done within a week. However, I've recently been thinking about listing some of my larger scenes that can take lots of time to make (my "smallest" scene recently took me 21 days).

My questions is: Is it worth it to try to sell some of my bigger pieces that would be listed at a minimum of $500 for a framed, hand-stitched scene? In this economy, I realize there are still some people out there who can afford to spend that kind of money, but is Etsy the place to try and find those buyers right now?

Any help/advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!!

What have you got to loose apart from the listing fee? The more you have in your shop, the more people are likely to find it, so go for it I'd say. :)

Guess the artists aren't around today but on any item and shop YES! Always have higher priced and remember those with money always have it and if you spoke to luxury cars, watches, etc companies those things actually sell BETTER in bad economy!

You don't have nothing to lose by trying. In this economy? I am so guilty of this "In this economy", I am broke but not everyone is broke and you maybe missing out on opportunity by not listing your higher dollar items.

I say go for it. Don't let the economy scare you because the truth is, there are always people with money, and there are always people who want to SPEND IT.

...and then there are some that will spend money they don't have.

But like everyone else said, what do you lose aside from $.20?

Sometimes the most expensive pieces sell the best. Frankly, there is perceived luxury in price alone. It only costs the listing fee and if you sold some how great would that be?! Go for it. :)

Absolutely go for it, someone may buy a smaller piece, love the quality and come back and feel comfortable buying a larger work. Besides, you never know who may be looking at your things.

I agree with the others. The larger ones might not sell, but at least you give your customers an idea that you're very broad in your skill. :D

Re: I could use some advice...

Glad to hear you're deciding to go for this!

This exactly was one of my new year's goals that I'm still working on. I have a good number of originals for sale in the under 80$ range, but I really want to get much larger 200-500$ pieces up to attract that audience as well.

Let me just say this, there are many that are doing quite well in this economy and continue with their lives like they normally do.

I say go for it!
