Today when categorizing an expense I clicked the "Categorize all future expenses with the word _____" button as I NORMALLY do, however this time, it synced ALL of my expenses & income to one particular category!
Now all of my direct checkout fees, shipping labels, renew sold fees, paypal fees, supplies, office expenses, and income are ALL under the same category. Apparently it had the word "Etsy" in quotations, so now EVERYTHING with the word "Etsy" is categorized the same. It has never done this in the past! I constantly use that button to automatically categorize expenses that I know are going to be reoccurring.
I would go back and manually categorize them, however most of the Etsy expenses only have the Listing# as the description. So even if I wanted to categorize the shipping expense, once I clicked "categorize all expenses with this description" button, it would not only categorize that one, but all other line items associated with that listing# (so it affects sales/income and fees associated with that listing number.
I have over 3,000 line items for 2013, so manually inspecting each one is not an option, and some I can't even decipher because the description is so vague. Etsy usually imported all of this information for me & synced most of it. I would just have to log in occasionally and manually categorize a few uncategorized expenses.
Is there a way to undo all of this & reload from yesterday? I already sent an email support ticket to Outright, and I'm waiting to hear back. Worst case scenario, if they are unable to undo this travesty, should I delete all of my Etsy data and reimport it from square one? At least that way most of my categories would sync automatically. I would prefer not to do this, since I've had my shop since 2011 and I'm not going to remember what each little random, uncategorized expense is.... :-/ I even have some personal expenses with my PayPal, that I would log in and immediately categorize as 'personal expense'.
HELP!!!!! Can't believe this is happening! :( I was all excited about getting my taxes done too...
