Getting Frustrated

No matter how hard i search, using the tags i know i have used. I never ever come up in the search. Does Etsy favor shops? What is going on!

Re: Getting Frustrated

Not only is it tags but how many use the same tags and yes you have to keep renewing them to stay on the top of all the others. Hope that helps.

Re: Getting Frustrated

It is not only having tags, but having better tags than everyone else. And that is even harder to do in some of the saturated categories.

I was easily able to find this listing on the 1st page of search
https://www.etsy.com/listing/170750810/baby-christmas-red-and-white-faux-fur?ref=sr_gallery_30&ga_se...
the tags are pretty good

but the tags for this listing https://www.etsy.com/listing/167262260/brilliant-white-long-sleeve-bodysuit?ref=shop_home_active don't have enough strength to ake this listing appear that high in search

It takes a lot of time, work & figuring out to find which tags will yield the best results for your items. A good place to start though is on your stats page at the list of keywords people have used to find your shop.

Re: Getting Frustrated

Also your titles are used in search. So as your title is great description I would change it to..Baby bodysuit, onesie, peach flower onesie, Baby girl onesie...
That is such a few words I would change it to.

Cute titles are great for catalogs and your own website. For Google search they do nothing for the bots to find it.

Adorable items :)

Re: Getting Frustrated

Tags would appear to have helped hugely. Although tomorrow will be the real test as i have posted alot in forums and that generally kicks up a few viewings. I will report back tomorrow :)

Re: Getting Frustrated

Do *NOT* use onesie as a tag. You can (and probably will) get nabbed for copyright infringement. Gerber owns the name Onesie & does go after people who use it.

I am friends with a seller who has now gotten permanently kicked off of etsy for trademark infringement and the last 4 were all for using the word onesie.

Re: Getting Frustrated

So glad to hear it! Tags are everything in Etsyland. Use each and every one wisely ;-)

Re: Getting Frustrated

Oh I had no idea Onesies was a certain brand. Sorry about that advise and thanks for catching it. Could always use One piece then.
