Chain question ?

I would like your opinions.

For a necklace with a pendant.
What would you prefer or consider looks better.

Ball chain
Link Chain
Rolo chain

I know I have definite opinions on these options but I am curious to see if
what I think is in line with all of you.
Thanks in advance!
Artie.

Re: Chain question ?

I always found the rolo chain to be nice with just about everything. I don't mind the ball chain depending upon the style of pendant. If the pendant is more formal a ball chain might not look correct.

Re: Chain question ?

Rolo or link. I'm not a fan usually of ball chains, other than for inexpensive necklaces.

Re: Chain question ?

Many people don't like ball chains, I think they can be great with the right pendant.

However, I think what chain works best depends on the pendant. The style chain changes the look, in my opinion. Rolo does look good with just about everything, but I have some interesting link chains that I really love to use with certain things. I also use leather for some!

So what do you think looks best with your particular pendant? Or do you want to offer a variation?

Re: Chain question ?

That's a tough one because for me it would depend on what the pendant is- solid or with a stone, very large or small, organic and rustic or elegant and fine. I do like ball chains if theyre sterling. Sorry I am no help at all!

Re: Chain question ?

Thank you all for your input.
I have tried to stay away from ball chains (although I do have some)
as I think they tend to look cheaper (some do look nice depending)
but as most of my stuff is $30.00 on up I prefer a nice rolo or link chain as I think they look a bit nicer and add some value.
This is just my thought though.
I am still looking for a good supplier of nice rolo chains somewhere between 2.5mm and 3.5 mm or so, but I find the supply to be very spotty, I can not find a good place that the price is reasonable and supply is always (or even mostly) there.
Hopefully I will be able to find a supply.
Thanks again for the input!

Re: Chain question ?

I did a bit of research on this a while back when I changed from handmade cords to chains, since pendants on chains sell WAY better than cords :(

Anyway, ball chains usually make people think of dog tags, which if you expensive silver stuff like me, doesn't work well.

Both link chains and rolo chains are good choices, it really just depends on what look you want to go with for your brand. I actually ended up with rolo chains myself, though my first choice would have been box chains, as they great for unissex designs, but they are by no means cheap so i went with my next choice, the rolo chains, and I must says I have grown to love them and have even gotten feedback on them...

Re: Chain question ?

I like ball chains, but I can't wear most since I'm allergic to nickel. So they all get a polyurethane dip before I wear them. :D

Re: Chain question ?

I joined this team cause I love the name, I'm an amazing thread killer but mostly I just have to know what a polyurethane dip involves.
